I'm looking for a good transmission place to take my 93L's E4OD. The converter crapped out but at 189k, I want to do a full rebuild. I wanted to get the rebuild kit from LFP and take it to the tranny shop.

Phoenix Transmission is good at what they do, but what I can remember is that they are a little high priced.

Well I went to a local shop and the guy said he would do the rebuild for $550 if I supply the parts and take off the tranny myself. Only bad thing is that he won't give me a warranty on it since I'm supplying the parts...

Jimmy is still at the shop until April and can build transmissions. The Taliban gets some of the action however. You could easily spend 600-900 bucks upgrading weak E4OD parts during a rebuild. They are full of chinsy aluminum planetary gears etc. If you supply the parts his bench labor is 800. We do some unique things that most rebuilders don't.

So a full rebuild would be around 2k?

You might contact Damon Sutterfield who owns/operates Pro-Matic Auto Repair, Inc. at (918) 291-2790. He bought my '00 White L that I had on deposit back-in-the-day.

I spoke with him briefly this afternoon and he still owns it. Evidently, he has a very good reputation in the transmission business.

Damon did mention that he does rebuild Gen I and II transmissions.
