I'm thinking of doing a stereo in my truck. I'd like to do a double DIN head unit. But for mids and highs... do ya'll put good speakers in the doors and nothing in the rear or do you do all 4? I'm planning on using 8's or 10's for subs, and possibly 2 - 4 of them. I'm pretty short so i dont have to worry bout the seat being all the way back, i think there is enough room. My buddy used to have 4 8's downfiring in his. Just getting some opinions :) Oh.. and where do teh power wire go through the firewall at? :D

I have 2 10's and I am about 6' 2" with plenty of room. My wire is going through the gromet on the driverside of the firewall so I did not have to drill any holes. I am running stock speakers and one is busted so that will change soon. Got both amps under the pass. seat as well. I suggest doing all 4 speakers but thats just me. :tu:

Yea my driverside speaker is blown. My L is still under factory warranty but i dont think i want to just have a regular speaker in it.

Ya might as well change them if your upgrading everything else. I am only running one 10 right now b/c the other is blown too. Do not get the JL W-0's. I love JL and Alpine though and the JL W-3's are the biggest that will fit in my box.

I had a nice component set in the doors and JL 10w6 behind the passenger. It kept me entertained.

How was the W6 mounted, forward or down?

Thats good looking, i wish i had pics of my buddies downfiring 8's. Box had plexi fronts and looked really good, hit good too :) I'm thinking the 1 - 10 W6 JL might just be the way to go, and some quart premiums for the doors :)

You always need a sub. I don't like any Focal except for the top of the line carbon fibers or such. I ran Boston Accoustics but they discontinued them in the RC80 I think... I listened to the entire sound board this time around and was prepared to spend up to 500 bucks on front components. The best sounding to me ended up being some damn Infinity Referenece for 150 or so. They even sounded better than the high line Inifinity Kappa series. I loved the top end Focals but they were 999.95 a pair. I put a cheap Pioneer two way in the rear doors for filler, they sound great and were only 65 bucks..

I have 3 sets of Focal Utopias in my truck, 6.5" components in the rear, 6.5" 3 ways (6.5 woofer, 4" mid and tweeter) in the doors and 5 1/4 components in the kick panels

luckily my buddy works for car toys so I got everything for cost

He is building me a custom box for 3 10" pioneer slim fit subs, going to hit real nice

I have the top end Focals in mine.. I love them and really felt they were the best that I had heard at the time.. they still sound great 5 years later.

   GEEZE! wanna part with one set?! lol Do you have any pics of the placement of all of these?! I never thought about putting a 6.5 in the back and in the front.

I do agree with Terry about the infinity, for what they are, good bang for the buck.

i went with some older infinity kappas in front & rear (not components). i'm 73" tall and running two 10s. i got a couple of inches to spare at the knees, but not much. i built the box for 12's, but had a slight miss calc and ended up buying two 10s:hammer: if you go to put a box in, go ahead and install some rear speakers while you have everything out...

Here is my setup with plenty of room. The Alpine is for the speakers and the JL is for the subs. It's a JL 250/1.

I plan on rebuilding a downfiring setup with a better amp rack soon. I already have it designed and drawn up.
