There are not new owners (not exactly at least). The same guy who used to run the track just sold old to a new owner, but is still a direct business partner and I heard a psuedo-general manager. The old owner is teaching the new owner how to run the track.

If that is the case, then we can expect the same no traction craphole that does pay out winnings and does not give refunds for poor traction or poor event management.

I have heard different, from many people...

I do expect it should hook ok this next week, as they just scraped the track a week or so ago

Jack is gone! A friend of mine went last weekend and said the track was great! He runs a 6 sec. vet and he hooked very well.

Next weekend sound great! I'll be there.

No don't! I'll be drooling over that thing all night instead of racing. But then again I may not be racing. It's King of the hill night. And I don't even qualify for prince :D .

direct e-mail from the new owner....

"March 22, 2007 We sincerely apologize for the for the Timing System problems that we encountered last weekend. However, we now have a New Timing System, with a back-up system that should prevent this from occurring again. Officially, Denton Dragway (http://www.dentondragway.com/) is now North Star Dragway!" "great news guys they had the meeting tonight at the track and from what i hear the J&J (jack and jason) show is GONE!!! and the owner seems to be really sincere about wanting it to be a great track and run the right way. so i am sure that it will take a little bit becuase we know that Rome was not built in a day but the new owner seems like he really cares about everything and everyone...."

Looks like the bad owner is gone completely. Between Jack and his ex-wife, that track was quickly dying. Good luck to the new owner. It could be a really nice place to race if they got it back to where it was a couple of years ago....

$15 bucks to WATCH a 1/8th mile on a regular night ?
Is that steep ? Seems so to me ...

15 bucks gets you a tech card. you can race if you want. if you don't want to race you can pay 10 bucks and walk to the pits. or you can pay the 15 to park with whoever shows up

I hope for personal reasons this track becomes what the new owners hope it will. It is not 10 miles from the shop and would be a great venue for me to test my chit after we wrench:D

None of those are in Denton....... I was just having a little fun at your expense $10 or $15 bucks is probably reasonable I think it would be hard to make it with one of these smaller tracks

You would really have to maximize your fuel, concessions, and special promo events to make it

It reads like he charges you again to stay for the late show? Does he run everyone else off at 11?

Been looking at the track rules.

http://www.northstar-dragway.com/rules.html

7.49 requires a roll bar?
6.99 requires a roll cage?

So now its a roll cage for a sub 11 sec run?

Wonder how they enforce this. The track is 600 miles from me but 5000 feet lower :d then again it's only 1/8th:(

charlie

Well I just read all the rules.

Now for the questions.

I'm running 14lb's of boost. Ported heads and ported c@l and DOT slicks

About how fast should it run?

I need to know if I need to go buy a helmet. I don't think they will let me run with an open face motor cycle helmet. The rule said 8.59 or faster I need a 90? Bla Bla Bla helmet.

If the track is hooking good, with 4# pulley, trac bars and DOT slick, I run 8.3 when it is around 70 and 8.5 when it is in the high 80s. The same set up and race tune in cool weather I'll go under 8.2. So, if your hooking up decent, you should run less than 8.59.

I run 4.3 when it is around 70 and 8.5 when it is in the high 80s.

yikes:eek: a 4.3, i think you meant 8.3, did you?

On a good day I run an 8.15 at Denton & have never been requested to use a helmet. However this was before the changeover & test N tune. I was given a warning for shorts once & had to buy a short sleeved T-shirt so I would have "sleeves"...

Be safe and wear a helmet no matter how fast you run. :tu: I got spun around one night and whacked my head against the glass. Glad I was wearing one.

Over on DFW Stangs they said the track sucked hardcore when they all went out there this weekend. They said it looks better and that the new machine they use to clean/clear oil etc is cool but most of the time it would have been better to just use the ole trusty mop and blow torch. They said even with the machine any oil down stoppages lasted at least 30 minutes.

The program they were there running was only in the second round at 1230 am.

It seems they're still trying to get things figured out and learn how to run programs. It will get better with time hopefully as they learn the ropes a little more.

check out this photo i dug up of denton. i think i just installed my squirrel unit. i eventually stopped going to that track as well. i agree with everyone else though, as long as they learn how to quickly prep the track and don't screw everyone around, i might start going back out there...

Is anybody heading out there this Friday? Me and a friend of mine from sanger will be there with our L's. Also, I'm trying to get a Lightning outing together to go to the Babe's Chicken Dinner House in Burleson. Anyone interested?
