I am having to get some new tires for the L. I immediately ordered the Nitto 555's for the front and 555DR's for the rear. But I didn't look to see if there was anything new on the market for the L. Good choice?
Oh, I am not a Toyo fan since the trad is too hard, the F1's aren't bad but I think the Nitto's are better in the wet and I just haven't seen much posted about the Hankooks.

I think you did the right thing

I've had good luck with the Toyos in the rain & they have good life, but the tire is 10 year old (http://www.toyojapan.com/new_tires/proxes_st/proxes_st.pdf). Unless you're at the track, they're not a sticky tire. I've almost got 120k on the L, so I've had to picked up a set or two. It all depends what kind of tire you're looking fer and what you're planning on doing that season. ;)

A buddy of mine picked up some of those Hankooks (20") and I thought he said they were kind of loud...this is all third hand of course

I have Hankooks and they are pretty good on wet and dry pavement. Can't talk much about how they handle compared to others, my Harley is a pig and doesn't handle like an L anyway. I've been happy with them overall though.

They seem loud to you?

Not nearly as loud as Toyo rocks. Of course with long tubes I don't hear much but engine.
