More info would be helpfull. It also depends on what you are going to do with the truck and what the price is.

for me it would be a daily, lightly modded for a while, maybe some track runs... lots of cruising with my friends in the car club here at Baylor

How soon would this need work?

yeah thats what i was worried about. i mean probably worth like 9000$ maybe?

ill talk to them and see what i can get it down to. cash i would think they would go for like 8000. i mean thats a ton a miles.

ill have to do a whole new bottom end, clean up the s/c and what not. what else would you all suggest? just curious what im up against if this is the route i decide to go.

i mean a project is fine with me i have a 4cyl ranger as a DD.

At the very least, run it through carfax first and then decide. It depends on what kind of life it has had.

Thunderbolt's L is in the F/S section, too.

That is a shady part of town. I would look elsewhere.

I hear ya, but once you own an L, you are going to want a built engine with a KB or Whipple on it, then comes all the other upgrades... so plan another 9k on top of the 9k they are asking.. and I have a lot more than 9k in mine without the KB and some of the other goodies.. these things just beg you to mod them.

I bought my 2000 L bout three years ago and by the time I got home Iwas wondering what mods to put on! There seems to be no end to upgrading. Which is awesome!

I'd say it takes about 20 grand to have a reliable Lightning. So the cheaper it is up front the more it will cost to maintain. An engine will be at least 5 grand, a transmission will be at least 2 grand. Over 100K everything starts falling apart door lock actuators, window motors, inter cooler pumps, A/C clutch or compressor. Just more maintenance.

what would you all offer for that truck? well once i have it, i doubt i will be able to mod it for a while. maybe an intake. but other than that it has to be pretty reliable so i want to buy it as cheap as possible up front so i have more for the fixes on it.

so i guess my question is, besides what KBB says, what woul dyou offer? 8k,8500?
