I'm looking for a reasonably priced 03-04 Lightning. I'm located in McKinney Texas. Colors, I like thus far are, Dark Shadow Gray, White (no red's and no black's) Really want the DSG color. Prefer low miles.

Looking for a deal, as I would be a cash buyer. no miles over 100k- unless its cheap. prefer close to stock. Must be in pristine condition. I have cash Or might get ride of one of my mustangs.

Thanks to all.

Chris

What's your definition of reasonable? If you don't like any of the ones recently listed here or on the National Lightning Owners forum, I'm afraid that your going to be looking for a while. BTW, welcome to the board.

not bad....but I really want a dsg with under 50k miles...

also Buying a car from a body shop is a big big know know. Again not in a huge rush. I have 3 bad ass mustangs as it is, but need and want a truck, so if I have to have a truck why not have it be a clean lightning!?!?

Where can I post some pics of my cars up on this site?

thanks,
Chris

The Dark Shadow Gray production in 2003 was 1172. Not sure of qty in 2004 but probably similar. So you are looking for 1 of at most 2,000 trucks. Anyone with a pristine 2003 or 2004 with less than 50K miles is not going to let it go for $15K. So this is really just a wish list, like in "I would really lke to find...." Good luck on your endeavor.

I have an immaculate 04 DSG, 48K, 3rd owner. Previous owner from Plano bought it at 22K and babied it like I have. He used Mobil 1, as have I. It has a full stainless exhaust, Nitto 555's with 3K on them, 4lb pulley with a Predator canned tune. It has a BBK throttle body, K&N cai. Only interior mod is a boost guage. Truck is perfect. I would like to get 19K. If interested, e-mail me at kennysherrie@sbcglobal.net.

when i sold mine (two years ago) Ls were starting to creep up in price. guess the economy halted that too.

Supply & demand dictates value/price. Given that there was a total of 20,000 Gen 2 Lightnings produced, the supply of low milage ones is steadily deminishing. Especially so when there are a lot younger drivers using them as daily rides. Prices today are about the same or more than they where a year ago. Good for owners, not good for wanabees.;)

I have problems with everyone in there brother asking for 18-20K. That is not what the market is commanding of right now. Everyone with a DSG L is asking these higher then normal amounts. I also have learned that almost everyone of the dsg , wether or not they admit it, have had there trucks have been in a fender bender. Also most of these people also do not have all the svt docs etc. In my mind if in todays market your going to ask for premo money...in must be for a premo product.

What does everyone thing todays market is currently?

Like I told you already, some people have more than twice the asking price in their trucks at this point, especially those that are on the forums that are doing upgrades and such to them. David(SonicBlueSVT) sold his in a week at 20k this past week. It's all about the right buyer at the right time. These trucks mean a lot more to people than just some random mustang that you see about 500 of every single day.:icon_eek: If you really want one of these trucks and in the pristine condition you are looking for, then you're gonna have to wait for the right seller.

Oh and one more thing, if I did decide to put mine up for sell, I would be damned if I would let it go for less than 20k. Regardless of what today's market is, and even if I was in a desparate situation. :icon_rolleyes:

A mustang is a mustang......this is a limited production and discontinued truck, regardless of what KBB bs tells you at this point. People are gonna ask for it what they think they deserve to get out of it.

Silver_2000

Just like everything price is relative

Truck is worth what its worth to the buyer and seller

there are many here that would rather keep it than sell for the 13k that KBB says.

Same can be said for web advertising :evil

That's a tough call-its what someone is willing to buy and sell at.
My truck is a 1 owner ,fully documented, meticulously maintained, tastefully modded but has high miles @ 117k.

I wouldn't let go for under 14k but book probably says its worth 8 to 10k.

Your requirements are strict. Realistically I think you will have to pay more than what your willing to spend to find what you want.

But I would expect to get something pristine if I did so. I'm also not trying to find something all modded out. I much rather have a close to stock truck.

Not taking it personal at all, I'm not the one shopping for the truck so it doesn't bother me one bit. :tu:

I spent over a year looking for the right one when I bought mine a few years back. I wanted pristine condition and was willing to cough up some extra cash to find it. In the end after over 12 months, I got the perfect truck at the perfect price for the condition it was in. It is possible to find what you are looking for, it will just take some time to find it. It all depends on how desparate someone is to get rid of their truck.

But I would expect to get something pristine if I did so. I'm also not trying to find something all modded out. I much rather have a close to stock truck. As I posted earlier in this thread, there were only 1172 2003 and 648 2004 DSG's produced. How many are still in pristine condition with less than 50-k miles is a big question. If you are correct about how many have been involved in "Fender Benders", you may well be looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. At this point the laws of supply and demand for DSG L's are beyond Kelly Blue Book or NADA or Edmunds ability to define the price. Afterall, they only report averages from recent transactions. The pricing guru's do not set the price, they merely report on pricing history. Good luck in your search, but quit preaching to current L owners about what you want or are willing to pay.

thanksI never heard about any premium fee for color. SVT dealers always tried to get above (and usually got MSRP $32K plus a little) MSRP for any color truck, just as they did for the GT 500 when it was released. There's that supply and demand thing again, darn-it.
