That is an interesting question! I have no idea per year as it is different every year. I did sit down one night at a bar with a pen, bar napkin, and a few beers and put the total to the test. After all the buying, selling, trading, etc... I have just over $3000 in parts total on the truck.

Just curious......do you spend more on your upgrades or beer at the bar figuring it up? On a more serious note is this an average for most people?

I hope the first year of my truck does not turn into my average. I have dumped more than 10k into my 30k truck since I bought it new in December.

That does not include the 2 sets of slicks I've been through, the blown out F1, I had to buy at 125 miles. I have changed the oil about 10 times, fuel filter 4 times, 2 sets of Densos, so I can try different gaps depending on humidity and temps.

1400 dollar trailer that got ripped off after I used it twice. About 150 gallons of 104 octane for trips to the track.

Shiot, it goes on and on. This is one expensive hooby.

I have to go now, I think I need to go and puke.:vomit:

I usually put my gun up before I add up my reciepts:hammer: . My third year was the most expensive.. I bought it in 3/01-12-02 I spent 14K cost, no labor on my mods all bolt on, stereo, bed cover, suspension, brakes, rebuild a few trannies etc.. Then I blew my engine Christmas of 02 on the way to Mom's house. Since then I have spent between 15-20K (parts cost no labor) and driven it less than two months this year. This year I bought a $9700 built motor, Art Carr super tranny, heat exchanger, long tubes, hi flow cats, stall converter, traction bars. I am sure I am leaving stuff out. That doesn't count tires, wheels, or regular stuff. I have more money in mods than the fricking window sticker reads:vomit: and I still don't drive it. That is why I disarm before adding it up...

I hope your right, but since I am presently seeking a built long block and about to buy a works 140 to go on top of it, I am not optimistic on this. Now when I add in the fuel upgrades needed to hit 10's, roll cage and then my parchute for my 150 MPH pass, I may be up there with Terry.

I've dropped between $7000 and $8000 in my truck: performance and stereo mods. The plan call out for well over $25000 more, though, as I've got a buttload of stuff yet to be done to this truck. All in due time.

Show!:rll: I could give a **** how shiney it is. I wanted to build a venerable road racing brick. I have the formula down for what it takes to road race a 5000# pickup truck. I do carve the corners and have run over 120mph for hours on end with no worries though and that is priceless:beer: . I figure it is my job as local tuner to break, rebuild and test everything first. Maybe one day I can afford to have a life, but until the truck is finished. I buy no clothes, have no wife, kids, or gf, no beer, no jewelery, no vacations, you get the idea. I am even selling my C5 to further the L effort.

My goal was RELIABLE performance and improved handling/braking with a slightly lower stance. I've done it for under 3k spent over the life of the truck (4.5 yrs).

I'm in the 12's with 68K on the odometer and what still amazes me is the versatilty of this truck (the bang for the buck if you will)- drag race, road race, cruise, show, haul ,tow, and even some offroad excursions (yes its true)

does not include normal maintenace and spinand wear-your milage may vary and proabably does:rolleyes:

I've known that for a while though !!!

That's a lot of money to put into all of your trucks. But ... my motto is do it while you're young and can have fun doing it!

I try to keep my bar tabs under $3000.

I think the average for the club would probably be around $2000-$2500. Not including curve busters like Terry and Ron. :D

As far as do people go for show or race... I think most people in this club are spending their money on speed parts. Most dont show but there are a few that do.

Ahem.... cough cough...

I know for a fact that there are PLENTY of us WAY over $3000.....

I have spent more than $3000 just in f1's. NOT including 2 sets of slicks, I set of road course tires.

One set of Ford chrome rims ( the chromes and the road course tires were purchased together -$1900 total )
Full exhaust system incl headers - $1500
3 pulleys - $900 or so
Bilstien shocks - $300 or so
4 new rotors and pads - GREAT deal at $400 or so used
Billet throttle body - FREEBIE
PSP intake - Cant remember lets say $200
Psp 4 way chip - ~$400 ???
Superchip flip chip - ~$300 ????
~ 20 dyno runs - 50 each =$1000
Race gas - lets say $300
Stereo upgrades - $1800
Efan water pump - Not sure lets say $600
8 new coil packs - lets say $250
3 or 4 or more sets of plugs incl one set of densos - $250
373 gears - $800 or so
mobil 1 oil changes for 4 years ???? Who knows
70,000 miles of premium gas = $8000 at $1.50 a gallon

LOTS of the installs were freebies as were most of the chip reburns...

Anyone want to add this up ???

Some where on SVTlightnings.com I had a XLS sheet I did early on that totalled everything...
