Shifting hard

Test drove a L yesterday. The truck drove great. The only concern I had is cruising about 40mph, if you gave it about half throttle it would downshift really hard. Is this common?

that sounds about right if you were in 3rd gear before you gave it half throttle... It just down shifted into 2nd...

I don't think anything stock shifts hard at any time.
