View Full Version : First Time with new L at the track

Well I just got back from the track at Evadale. I'm not disappointed but I thought that my truck would go faster than what I did. Here is my time.

My truck is basically stock with Nitto 555's and magna flow exhaust. What I think though is that my truck needs to be tuned because from what I here my mph should be higher and when you stop it to the flow it accelerates then after about 3 sec its like it hits this other platform on the gear and changes the tone of the motor. and also when it shifts the truck makes this kinda "bloup" sound if you can understand that. I think that possibly the computer is not set for the lesser amount of backpressure and that the air/fuel ratio is not right. It just feels like it is falling on its face after about 80mph. If anyone knows anyone in the Houston-Beaumont area that is well respect or if anyone can program a chip without my truck acctually being there then I really need some advice. I have the money to buy whatever I need. I just want the truck to have a smooth acceleration. But with all that being said a 13.39 is not bad for the probs I feel like its having...then again I have never owned or driven an automatic before and maybe thats how its supposed to be. Any advice would be much much appreciated. Also will be becoming a supporting member tonight even though I live to far away to really meet with you guys on any events. Unless your in the Houston area.

hmmm, don't really know what to say about the hole falling flat on it's face thing, a 13.3 seems pretty good for a basically stock L knana , I'm new to L game so who knows. I just took mine out tonight for the first time and had a blast :nana2 . Pulled a best of 8.3074 @ 84.05 on F1's. I also have a 6lb lower too, I'm sure that was a big help.

I am happy with a 13.3 but the way the truck was driving just didnt feel right. also if my stock gauge is right i am pushing a little more than 10psi of boost. If it is right not sure where because it has stock pulleys. Gauge is proably wrong. I am just saying that the truck feels like it has a lot more if it would accelerate smooth.

The stock gauge is usually just a referance it not accurate at all mine pegged out all the time and then I put an autometer on it it never got over 8-9 psi stock now its around 13-14 now on cold days maybe 14-15.knana

That "blob" you're feeling is most likely the torque reduction. The computer is dropping 4 cyclinders of power between shifts to prolong the life of the drivetrain.

Get a chip from Terry and take it out anf then hold on:tu:


also 13.3 and especially the 1.9 sixty foot are very respectable times for a bone stock truck- chip, pulley, and filter and you should be in the mid to low 12's

Excellent time for a stocker. You will find that the stock program dies at the 2-3 shift due to converter lock-up and a large gap :cool: between 2nd & 3rd gear. FFW is early May in Baytown so maybe you can meet up with some of us.

Ill be there...be nice to see some other L's run I was the only lightning at the track last night. Got a lot of attention too. Was also surprised my truck went faster with toneau cover than with out cover and tailgate..I guess areodynamics outway weight.

Most stock L's run 13.2-13.8 @101-105 depending on your luck.

RonaldYou better get out there before it heats up! My truck ran a best of 13.8 at 102-ish with LOTS of tire spin in the dead of winter and 14.5 at 97-ish in the heat of summer. Heat makes a huge difference, so if you want to see 13s on a stock truck get out there soon!

We were also part of the 110-115 mph "break-away" group going to Topeka. :D

I've only done that once. ;) I need to chill-out on the DNTW before I get a ticket, too. That stretch is fun to drive except for the traffic.
