Hello everyone, I am new here, as I just got my first Lightning. Upon getting it, I was thinking of what changes I would like to do to it. Then got to thinking about what others have done to change theirs. So that brought me to here.

I race with Fun Ford Events all the time, and I am looking at putting some mods on the Lightning, but before I do that, I would like to get some suggestions on what you find to be the best mods for it.

Thanks for any help, and thanks for allowing me to join. :D

The basic mods are chip, pulley, and an open air filter kit.

Also we have a local tuner that is badass! He has his own forum on here.

Mike is right about the parts you need if your goal is more performance. Those three mods (chip, filter, pulley) are the first three mods that pretty much everyone does first. These three mods combined should get you roughly 40rwhp/50rwtq depending on chip tune and pulley size. Get ahold of Terry and he can give you the specifics on pricing etc...

Welcome to the site!

There should be a how to like area that lists mods by prices, gains, and such:twitch: .
I think they stack up kind of like this:
1) Chip
2) Filter
3) Pulley
4) Electric Fan
5) TB with pulleys 4# and up
6) Ported blower
7) Long tube headers
8) Heat exchanger for boost over 14# or drag racing.
9) Intake spacer for 4# pulley and up
10) Traction bars for racing or hooking up street power.

I am trying to stay as close to stock as I can and still run 10's. I don't want to risk voiding my warranty.

Welcome to TALON, Amy. I recently made my first mod, a flip chip with a mild street tune done by Terry (Performance Research).

I would recommend starting there, like everyone else has already said. I will be hitting him up hopefully in the next couple of months for a pulley and chip reprogram. If you don't have a lot of money, I would suggest setting aside a certain amount every month until you can afford to buy the mods you want. I have a son getting ready to start college, so that is how I have been approaching it. Good luck - Mike
