I remember watching this show as a kid. This was our version of Barney. Turns out that he we were watching a show intended to trip out stoners, not to entertain children! I'll be damned!

Here is a quote from the site:

The main clue is the title character, H.R. Pufnstuf, whose last name sounds a lot like "Puffing stuff." The title "H.R." is never explained on the show, and many interpreted it as code for "Hand Rolled," with Pufnstuf's title of Mayor also being short for "marijuana." Pufnstuf is green with red hair, just like cannabis buds.

I remember the show. Never made any associations with the title or anything though.

i dont really remember that.... but I saw something the other day that gave me a flashback to my childhood tv watching days... i saw on tv... Thundercats.!!! now that along with Masters of the Universe and Transformers were the bomb diggity!!!

Ok, Clutch Cargo and Banana Splits are way far apart time wise, so I cant make that connection. But I do have the DVD for Beanie and Cecil. Plus I have all of the Rocky and Bullwinkle along with Underdog too. Not to mention George of the Jungle, SuperChicken and everyones favorite in Talon.....
