So far so good :tu: . The Gn. 2 isnt my daily driver anymore so they will be doing alot better now. I do plan on putting EBC's on them sometime in the future.

Sal @ PSP tuned my first engine it lasted 18K miles with a 2# pulley and made 392hp.

I ran a JDM tune on my 9200 JDM motor for warranty purposes:rolleyes: . It made 450hp on a 6# pulley and stock blower. It ran 3K miles and cost me 3200 to repair the damage.

Since then I choose to do it myself.

EBC'S ROCK!!!! I had Terry put a front set on mine a few weeks ago. Sssaaawwweeettt!!!! Stops a lot harder, has this really cool hissing sound when you hit the brakes, and they smell great when you shut her down from 110mph (not that I would EVER get up to that).

Terry,

That last pic of your engine on the stand is one of the best pics of an engine I have ever seen. It is just beautiful..

What actually causes these engines to blow after a tune, besides not knowing what your doing? Most of the ones i see are thrown rods.Is the big factor timing? Is there a week link on the factory rods, and what are the stock made from?Titanium rods must be stronger, i have heard of rods made from that.I love cutting it to, makes cool white sparks! What is the altimate rod besides the one we where born with?

I would like to see a vote of the same kind but blown engines.

Here is a current project I just pulled the engine today. Diablo Predator and 8# pulley. Lost three rods.

The most common cause of BDFU is detonation it makes about 100 times the force of combustion on the rod. Another is tuners making peak HP tunes which are a time bomb in cold weather and at high speeds. I have never seen a Lightning motor blow under 100mph. Most 95% of the "tuners" run way to much timing for high speed use. Most tunes are safe for drag or stop light racing only. Stock timing for a Lightning is say 12 degrees. Most street tunes from Diablo and the rest run up to 18-19' max timing. It pulls hard but is a high risk to blow. I run 12-14' on most of my higher powreed trucks to be safe. That is on top of 4-6#'s of extra boost you are making. Then 95% of the customers don't want to pay for a dyno tune. So basically everyone is running cookie cutter mail order tunes based on an average trucks behavior. Some trucks have a little different personality and will detonate faster or tolerate more timing than this. One I remember is Richard Mc Fadden's 2002 L. He complained about detonation year round on a J39 JDM tune which is a mild "safe generic tune" thousands sold. After changing plugs, fuel filter, checking fuel pressure etc. I saw it did indeed detonate. So once I bought the SCT software I made a custom tune for him and no more detonation. Speedybolt is another case in point he has a funky monkey MAF tube and had chronic issues with numerous Diablo changes in tune. He couldn't get the dyno tune right away and just wanted me to make a safe guess. So I did and he lost 13hp over his Diablo problem tune but it is a safe setup until he can afford to do a full custom tune. blah blah blah:tu:

I'm going to get that crappy thing fixed! I've found what I need I just haven't gotton it yet. It looks like it will be a while though, I need a blower port now!

I can tune it as well as a stock meter it just takes more money and time;) .
