Terry,

Truck started missing, a day later it blew a plug compleetetly out. It looks like the guy who had it previously crossthreaded the plug, although I believe they were stock plugs. I replaced the plug, cause the threads were screwed, and the plug had a pin tip for a electrode, when putting the new plug in I could only go about 1\4 of the way till it bit. I left it alone and limped it home. Do you know what the cost may be , I figure the heads must come off to tap it? Do you do that, or where can I take it?

Thanks

also while its there, how much for a valve body installed?

WE can attempt a thread repair in the truck depending which cylinder it is. If it works it is 200 bucks. If it doesn't hold you have to pull the engine or head which is about 1800. Dealers get 3000 plus for head replacement.
Shift kits are 200 installed.

I am always busy, if you can drop it off one day I will just fit in it somewhere. $120 for plug swap including plugs.

ok, it's looking like early next week when I can bring it in.

If you can get it to hold, I'll go with the plugs and the valve body, if not- I'll probably half to pull the head myself, and bring it to ya. how much for a valve job if I half to pull one I might as well pull both and have them massaged.

Terry,

I got a new plug in about 5 turns, so I guess the plug just backed out, I think I'll change them myself this weekend, and bring her to you for the valve body.

Just curious, would it help hold the plugs in better with a thin indexing washer, ? And is it true these plugs are bad every 20,000 miles?

I have pulled them at 80K and they look fine. Index washers do not add strength. A vlave job is about 175 for OHC.

Terry,

Can I bring the L in tomorrow, get the valve body and the plugs? Think you can get it done by Sat?

It was going to be 325$ right?

Bring it, 200 for the VB and 120 for the plugs. Unless you want the bad hole fixed, I have never seen a plug thread back in and hold.

Terry,

whats the status on the truck, I need to know if I half to cancel plans for Sunday?

Also, What would MY benefit be to buying an xcal2? I don't fully understand what they can do. Don't I half to have a license to change tunes myself?

Also, on those xcal 2's- are the future updates for those going to be available to those who get one now?

ok, I'm crunching here but can't hold myself back,

How much is the work so far? If we can keep the balance total for the work so far, and a xcal2 under 1000, hook me up!!

I've got a laptop, so the revision doesn't scare me. What would you need from me to tune it with the xcal? I do have a list of most of the major mods, and can send it to ya if you need it.

Seems like apopular question

Here is the answer from the source

The XCAL2 was a large project in development, and from the beginning the plan was to do the first release of the XCAL2 without end user adjustability until the adjustment features went thru compressive testing both in-house and then thru select field beta testers. Once testing is completed, everyone can get a firmware update and then files from their dealers containing the adjustability and standalone data logging updates. No XCAL2 customer will be left behind, or stuck with something that can't be upgraded with new firmware. End user adjustability is something that we are taking very seriously, and because of that we want to take every possible step to ensure that it provides results and works correctly.

I got your engine back together about 10 last night. It will survive the launch. I had to take it down to the heads to fix it though. I will do the VB when I get back from my little trip today. I will call you later or Saturday when it is ready. :tu:

Terry, on the way home I was checking the RPM-

I'm running 2100 at 70
2400 at 80 in overdrive
and 3000 at 70 in 3rd

So you think they switched rearend gears?

also, why would when I shift into park, the rpm drops down so low it almost stalls for a second, then levels off at 1000- into park is the only time it does it.

What config parameters should I data log to help you better adjust a great tune for this?

It still seems to be lagging alot compared to how it ounce ran, but no ping so far, lol.

Also can I get the XRT file so I can change shift points, I dam near half to punch it to get it to shift down?

Thanks

It sounds like 3.55's to me. Idle quality is affected by EGR flow, air leaks behind the MAF, and the idle air control motor. It also has to relearn the idle after being flashed. Sometimes cleaning or replacing the IAC fixes a sticky idle situation. Or capping off the breather caps.

The shifting is to pull on the torque like a diesel. Send me an Email and I can send you yoru tunes. timing wil fix the lagging but you know the draw back to that:evil .

Do you have some IAT sensors? How much? I'm still getting an off and on bad idle to 1500 rpm.

Also, the manual fan switch < or I thought was manual is not coming on until hot outside, or maybe has to do with the AC on or not- whatever it is I need to get it fixed, do you have parts for it? It's the LFP 18" 2 speed.

And look out for me for another motor, I'm wanting to get you started on one soon, lol!!

THE TRUCK IS SHIFTING GOOD, BUT i WOULD REALLY LIKE TO firm it up a bit more, and try to get it to shift down from OD and 3rd without having to push 3/4 throttle.

will data logging tell us whats going on with the idle problems?

Thanks

We can put more pressure in the shifts.

I listed what to check for the idle, IAC, EGR, and air leaks behind the MAF. I don't have IAT sensors a parts store may carry them.

what about this fan? can you get it fixed up, or maybe you just have a better system that can be put on, I'm really sick of watching the temp gauge constantly.

Mark is out of fan parts for the last few weeks. I am waiting on the same supplier.

If I buy a whole new fan system, how much will you charge to put it in?

Any sugestions on a Supplier?

The fan quit today on the d**& jighway in traffic, had to direct wire it to the battery at 120 degrees. Both relays that I just replaced were burned up again, and when I tried to wire the high speed the wire got melting hot, so I wired it low speed to make it home and the wires were still smoking when I got home. I think the fan is almost burned up anyway.

What year block will my blower, parts fit up to, I think I have a line on another long block, but he wasn't sure if it was 01, or 02.

99-00 parts match 01-up parts match. The blower and lower intake, wiring harness, and crank pulley is different.

what about the Computer?

Well I found someone with a 02, 20,000 miles stock, Long Block. I'm going with a Kenne Bell, so, what are we talking $$ to build it to stand around 500+ or so HP and put it in?

If it can be done, I'll most likely buy the block buy the end of this month and get it to ya to start on.

What do you think my block may be worth for selling to eat some of the cost?

You going to be available this weekend, I'd like to discuss it further with ya , I'll buy ya beer or something. I really apprietiate ya, I know it's a headache already.
