Anyone know if you need to change SC belt lengths if you install the 90 or the 100mm? Thinking about making this change, and its the only answer I lack...(6# lower already installed)

I just put the 100mm idlers on and didn't have to change the belt.

Not trying to take this thread :0fftopic but why do folks do the idler pulley changes other than the bling effect? Do they really help? and what are all the benefits they provide?

They put more tension on the belt so that it is less likely to slip. Less slip = less loss of boost.

I have 89K+ on my truck and I was planning on buying replacements anyway so I went with the Metco 100mm. Bought them in the For Sale section for $60.

Did you notice any difference when you went 100mm? I figure that belt slippage does not happen until the higher RPM's, but not certain..

2.8 upper, 6# lower, 2 100mm idlers, one on the bracket, no belt change

It felt like it boosted up a tad quicker, the belt is still going to some. I run the gates belts. Everytime i had a gatorback belt on my truck it seemed to slip more and there was more rubber residue on the brackets.

Any way to test the theory of less belt slip?

also, does anyone use a different bracket or is everyone just replacing the pulleys and using the stock bracket? or does a different bracket make a difference too?

Finally, if I am running a 4# and my blower is ported, will this really help? does a ported blower have less back pressure that might cause belt slip?

inquiring minds just have to know..

I replaced the idlers in the stock locations at first, then went with a new bracket. It felt alot stronger on the butt dyno with the idler bracket.
