I was flipping through channels the other day and I figure why not watch SportsCenter on ESPN. Switch the channel to ESPN and what do I see....POKER!! Since when is poker a sport? Did I miss a memo? These people are true world-class atheletes in my opinion...

Maybe we'll start seeing the old, chain-smoking, fat ladies in wheelechairs pulling on the one-armed bandits next on ESPN...

its pretty boring to watch but there are a few times, when it gets exciting, like when someone bluffs another out of 500,000 and takes them out of the game with a nothing hand, and when it gets down to the final 2 people and its all in, and they both have awsome hands, and it all comes down to the flop, 4th street, then the final blow of the river card

If Michael Irvin said that the pipe belonged to one of the hookers he had the other night this thing would blow over quick :evil .

I would have to agree, Tom. Maybe ESPN is maybe trying to broaden it's audience to include more of the "thinking-man's" pursuits.

I believe ESPN hosts hunting, fishing and archery shows - even bowling and lumber-jacking, too. Hell, they even have stories of NJ bear over- population on their web-site and introducing a longer bear-season in NJ .

One of the most bad-ass events I've seen on ESPN were the Hughes Defender helicopter air-races near Reno, I believe.:bows

Yep, I'm definitely going to get myself one of those Don Imus cowboy-hats!:rll:

Poker is a trip. I never used to play but I am addicted to it now. I love watching it on t.v. just to see the different styles of play. We play every other weekend at my house and I hate to miss out.

The man in the cowboy hat it Doyle Brunson, one of the most respected in the game, and he is also from Texas. The guy to the right is Phil Hellmuth J.r., the bad boy of poker as they call him. It's always fun to watch him go off on one of his fits, throwing chairs and cussing the guy that just put him out of the tournament.

The whole poker craze started in 2003 when an unknown accountant, Chris "moneymaker", won the World Series Of Poker main event. It made it look like anybody could get out there and beat the pro's at thier own game. I think it has gotton a little crazy with all the things poker though, I mean go to ebay and search poker and see what you get...

The Main Event is always 10k.. they had 5816 people this year.. but they have games as little as $300 to get in... at each stop they have 15 to 20 games over 3 weeks
