I was wondering about the run out issue at Temple again. Is the run out at Temple less than Hallsville and by how much?

We are all just gonna have to wait and see. From everyone I have spoken with this use to be or should be a 1/8th mile track modfied to run 1/4. Then there is some rumor if you overshoot the runoff you cross the local highwayknana . That being said, I think we need to work you up a parachute Rocks:D . Not only does it look cool it works as well!

The track has a longer run out then Hallsville. The very end of the track has a curve to it, but that is at the very end of the run off where you will be exiting.

If it is longer than Hallsville it shouldn't be a problem. I Really just need enough room to pull over at the end of the track and wait for Mr. Hogge to catch up to me.:throw:

I've only been there twice, and I'm getting old (37), so my memory is starting to fail I guess.
My recollection is that the run-off is certainly no longer than H-ville. However, its been 10-12 years since I was at Temple, and the only thing I had it to compare to at the time was the Motorplex or HRP. However, I was only running low-12s in my Mustang and I remember having to stand on the brakes pretty good (not that stock brakes on a Fox-3 Mustang are any good... they suck).
I have witnessed an 8-second Super Gas car go up onto the highway (its a 2-lane state highway). Now, he may have had something malfunction in his brakes/chute, I don't remember.
Ron, I think you will be fine, but you will be standing on the brakes pretty good, and once you have decelerated somewhat you will start veering to the left.

That's just it Wes. I can't stand on my brakes. I have shaved calipers with 15" x 4" wheels(light weight Bogarts) on the front. If I stand on my brakes it pitches the weight...all 5000 lbs of it.....to the front wheels and tires. These trucks are real different animals than a Vet.
I also can't swerve as this can put the load on one front wheel and tire, causing the wheel and tire to colapse to the side. Did I mention I have no sway bar on the front.
Basicly...my truck is set up to go straight...Drag Racing style....knana .
I guess I will have to decide when I get there....thanks for the help guys:beer: .

Oh, I know these are a lot different than a Vette. I do drive my L. :) Seriously, you _have_ set it up to go straight with some compromises to handling/braking, and that gets even more exaggerated when you throw in the OEM qualities of the truck compared to most sports cars (higher center of gravity, relatively poor weight distribution, etc).
You'll be smart and do the right thing. I'm sure making a hard 1/8th mile shut-down pass is on order, then maybe a 1000'er just to back that up and see for yourself how it acts after the finish line.
