View Full Version : I bought a 2001 lightning

Guys, I bought a 2001 lightning that has 11,000 miles on it and want some advice on upgrades . I want to lower the L in the back and maybe go with different rims like the smoothie`s if I ever get enough $$. I also want to upgrade the sound system with a little more sound. Anyone care to give me a few ideas ? I just found this site and thanks to all the lightnings owners . I also wonder where everyone is getting the decal on there from windshield......SVT Lightning.com......at ?Don`t pick on me as I am a newbie......lol......Darrell

Welcome! Do some looking around (search) here and you'll find the answer to every question you have. There are numerous vendors from which to buy mods, but most around here buy from Terry at Performance Research. Since you are in SC, you could check F150online.com or NLOC.net for more regional vendors.

Doug has the banners and I carry the go fast and suspension goodies. Cheapest way to lower the rear 1-2" is $60 shackles.

Doug how much are the decals ? I can`t seem to find the right link you are saying totry for the decals either . What about the $60.00 shackles and where can i get a set ? Can I install the shackles myself ? Doug you got a nice ride man, what kinda rims are those ? Did you lower your truck any ?

The rims are Stock Ford Chromed sold as Ford Part Number got them from Tirerack.com

My suspension is stock ...

Wow, I've never realized how much extra space there is in the wheel wells. I can see where the 4x4 remark comes into play...(not in this thread). Nice truck though!
