Well, i read two theads over on nloc, checked the vacum tubes under the inlet boot, everythings hooked up, i do have a check valve between the valve cover and boot as part of my oil sep. mod. could this be it ? I also noticed that my a/f gauge is reading deeper into the green than b/4 i got the x/cal2. i've re-set it twice now and it still keeps coming back on a couple days later. I'm up for any answers:confused:

Which one of the tousand codes is it? Lean bank is usually an air leak above the blower. It is a common nuisance code. Maybe old o2 sensor not switching.

Speaking of codes. Is there supposed to be a book with the X cals that lists them for you? or anywhere else for that matter?

Believe it or not, you can put the code in a Google search.

You have an xcal1 Nick you can't read codes. Autozone does it for free. Wes, I wish they did, I think there is an internal database in the 3.0 tuning. The old Superchips flashers came with OBD code lists as they are generic to all makes and models. I just google them at home like P0171

Hrmmm.....perhaps I'll just put them in a doc and make a small reference doc for the truck.

It's cool you can google them and all, but not real helpful at the track, on the street etc.

Thanks for the info

Lightnings only throw about two codes, lean idle bank 1,2 and excessive EGR flow. Here is another article
http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl903d.htm
Here is a snippit.
Q. Hello, I have a 1998 Ford Expedition, 5.4 liter, 4WD, 67,000 miles, K&N air cleaner. I have been getting diagnostic codes P0171 and P0174.
A. You and about 24,000,000 other people have the same problem.

I'm getting the same reoccuring P0171 / P0174 Bank 1/2 SES lights. I clear them through the AutoTap or taking off the "-" battery cable for a while in the evening.

It's gone for several hours, but reappears soon thereafter.

Good luck,

Ronald
