its started around 11..... but i find it funny how the news tell people to go grab the water hose and hit the fences and yard.. moist yard and wood is no match for a fire that big.. id just leave....

Funny tho i new the fire was there cause of the smoke and didnt think much since i saw white smoke from when they were putting it out.... Then a friend got here from TENN. she was like tv, news now!

I can't tell ya how many we have been on down here!!!! We seem to go from brush fire to house fire.....without a break! Got to put out a pasture the other day and I just wanna tell ya them cow chips burn! Went to a house fire right after that one and only got to change from brush gear to Bunker gear........ It's just sad when we have structure fires..... but luckily down here everyone has gotten out! Even the guy that was heating his motor home with the propane cooktop...... That one was totaled when we rolled up to it. People really need to be careful!

These fires have been hitting ALOT of us hard in TX/OK.! All my family's/friends' stock-tanks are almost dry. I've actually seen one of our main fish-ponds reduced to the size of a city-lot, as evidence of how dry it's been.

Elaine and I were driving from Tulsa back to DFW today and were amazed at all the smoke rising through the atmosphere both in TX/OK as we were passing through McAlester/Durant OK. and later Sherman/Denison.

The attached pics were taken as the sun was setting. We were near Atoka, OK. and evidently photographing Arlington/FW.,TX. We even ran into charred pastures along 75 North of "The Border". It was all over the radios.

As we were passing through, I phoned a good friend of mine who was fighting fires east of Durant to save his Father's ranch near Boswell. He told me via cell of charred vehicles along highways, a toasted firefighter's ATV in the middle of a pasture and 1/2 "well-done" homes.

Those 40 mph winds were terrible (especially with driving two vehicles) along with '05 being the 5th driest year on record for this region!:eek2:

Glad the Arlington/Kennedale TALON members seem to be OK.
