YES steady pay check!!!!!!! i havent had a steady pay check in over 5 years.. been on flag time and each weak was different.. I hated it... dont know why i put up with it

Are they union?I had to buy icecream,(Bluebell only),beer every weekend,and steak and lobster dinners when i made probation.I got all the chit jobs and hated getting called a PROBY.It was well worth it in the end.Anyway Congrats. and if its union just take it with a smile:D Bet you got good benefits too:tu: Good Luck!

I was a state employee at the Univ of Texas Medical School in Houston. Its like any other place, for the most part. It has its ups and downs. Your increase in pay is determined by the state legislature and your boss and others. They do some things that dont make sense and some that do.. like any other place. You always have to remember that whatever you do should be justifiable to joe six pack. If you do that, then you will be ok.. they waste a lot of money on being overly oversighting themselves..

yea thats true... its not the best pay but the benifits and room to grow is nice as well. That and ill be carpooling with my mom so ill earn hours off....
Mom just stoped by the house in her state jeep and told me my hours will probly be 7-330/4

those are good hours and its a nice gig.. dont forget to start putting some money away in the 403b plan.. never too early to start and it adds up fast even if its just a small amount from each paycheck, just do it.. (this is the fatherly Dana talking to you:D )

well tomorow is the day...what a day to start work after new years... atleast im tired and will have no problem going to sleep.

just got home after my first day.. nice getting off at 330.. we get back to the office around 230/300 and sit around watch tv and fill out some daily reports..

Today all i did was block off a lane in ftworth, then rode pretty much just road around..... Its one easy job lol but i like it....

Seems like a good gig...sounds like you did auto work before if you were flag time. What all are you doing for TDOT?
