I have this piece of crap virus/adware/malware whatever called SpyAxe. I wont go away. I used my spy doctor and it detects it and clears it, but it keeps coming back. It sets up an icon on the desktop. Its helper friend is in the tray at the bottom and the pop up screen will not go away. it says that there is an infection. when you click on it, it takes you to the SpyAxe website. They basically want you to buy their product to remove their garbage. Somebody please help me. Doug, Ronald, Buttfungus, I know that you guys are pretty handy with a computer.

Jacob,
I run AntiVir. You can get it here: http://www.free-av.com/
I used it to get rid of a stubborn "BD" email trojan virus last week.
Also, configure it to always get the lastest virus-definition files.
Good luck and let us know how it works for you.

Ronald is right. There is "no" all in one tool to remove all the unwanted crap. It usually takes more than one piece of software.
Another decent free anti-virus software download is:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
I also use the free version of Adaware:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
and also Spybot:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
If you can't get it cleaned up let me know and I can take a look the next time I'm in A' town or the next time I see you.

Hey guys, all the programs you mention are great, fact, I use most of them. But, if you look at what spyaxe is you would know that none of the mention programs would remove it.. ... simply because it is an "anti-spyware" program within itself. really not a viruse or spyware or spam It's just installs itself in many ways to start up again apon boot up... making it very hard to get rid of..... hence the above link to instructions of removal.

Howard, you are correct. I should have mentioned in my post to use these tools in addition to your link.:tu:

All you guys are the bomb. The funny thing is that I tried to look at that link earlier, and it wouldn't let me. It's like they try to stop people from using it. I tried to click on it 3 times. By the way, it worked:beer: . Thanks guys :tu: .
