I doubt I would know what it is anyway, photos without scale can be very deceiving.

Of course... ARP makes head bolts and connecting rod bolts, so a no brainer since it wasn't head studs.

whats your final guess then arp connecting bolts or a connecting rod?

Okay I have played along with this thread as we are all apparently really bored, but with the reflections I say connecting rods not bolts.
PoorSvtman
12-30-2005, 10:06 PM
yep they are rods..... but if its so boring why keep posting?
But ive been rebuilding my motor for the L... all arp head/mainstuds, cams, ported intake, heads longtubes.......etc etc etc
I lifted a head and well the oil and coolant shooting out i just said screw it and parked it and started to tear it down... guess the "driving" on wharehouse roads and highways" left its toll after 115k miles

Only an engineer could be baited into playing this dumb game for so long  .
Mike......The answer to the which hand question is....the hand I am going to choke you with... .
Heck Mike, while you have the heads off....just rebuild the whole darned thing.
Do you plan to go with head studs to help prevent the heads lifting again. I am also curious when it was and how much boost you hit it with to do this. Those heads should not have lifted at the power levels your at. Unless you where getting massive detonation inspired combustion pressures.
So what caused it??? Could you possibly have a similar problem to the one Doug had with his first lightning? If you do...your going to need new heads.

its all going to be new from the manley rods/pistons to the gaskets
the reason the head lifted was because ford uses torque to yeild bolts for the head which is dumb on a boosted car... i have pushed my L to the high rpms and in overdrive that othes fear.. i did it alot...
i had a ported blower, 6lb lower, 2.8 upper etc... i just pushed it hard and to the higher levels most are afraid to go....

Excellent on the bottom up build.....knana . It should be sweet.
I didn't realize you where running so much boost. When I was running a ported blower with that pulley combo, I was making as much as 19lbs of boost. That is definnitly enough boost to lift the heads.
Keep us all posted with pics as you go along. It will be fun to watch it happen.

Now for the questions.
Who are you using to P&P the heads? Oh yeah....3 angle valve job????
What compression ratio?
What/who's cams? You may have said already, but I just got off the bus...:D .
I saw you post over at F150 on the spring thread...are you planning to go along with that line of thinking on the springs? Why...or why not?
Rocks:confused:
