I've always wanted to go out there and buy a vehicle and drive it back home. The only two things that has kept me from doing it is time and money. :D

Terry you're lucky man !!! I sit up to 3-4 am sometimes after work watching & "wishing I could". Man there are some really nice cars rolling across that stage. I like the street resto-rods the best, but stick to production engines guys!!! No Chevy in Fords!!!:nono: Have a nice time "Mr" Terry.

It is definately an over 50 car IMO, I never liked those years period! I thought about throwing a sign up to haul one back. We'll see who I meet out there and if something works out.

Hey all, I made it to Scottsdale no problems. Sunday I drove from Dallas to Las Cruces, NM. We should have kept going as Las Cruces was not a nice hotel town to stay at. The nicest one was Ramada and it sucked. I pretty much slept with one eye open for about 3.5 hours. I was up and down with the noises of drunks fighting in the parking lot and kids running down the halls. The doors had been kicked in a dozen times and the inside latches were broken. Being so close to the border I was ready for the "La Hermidad" kidnappers to come in at any moment.. Climbing through the mountains and seeing some snow up there was cool. I still need more fuel capacity. I filled up three times Sunday and once again today. The auction is electric! There are world class people and cars everywhere. The original Hemi cars are going to draw a lot of bidding. I highly recomend doing it once! We ate at a place called Morton's tonight, the bill was several hundred bucks:bows . The camera is in the truck and I don't want to fetch it now. Picks tomorrow or such, sleep.......

As in Morton's of Chicago? If so, there's one in Dallas, and it's probably the best steak dinner I've ever had, but yes you can figure an easy $150 per person.

I tried to register and do the fantasy bid stuff, but Speedtv has no bandwidth apparently.
Tried again, server unavailable again on car number 2 so I am 0 for 2.
I guess they want the call in charge of $0.50, BS.
and a Plymouth Belvedere Hemi clone is now at over $110K is also BS. What????

Okay now we have a Harley Excursion Diesel that never existed at $78K, I think there are a lot of people really high at this event.

+1

I have eaten there a few times, and luckily my dad has picked up the tab, cause it is easily $150 a person, Like Moonshine said, it is by far the best steak (better than III Forks, Pappas Bros, Mansion on Turtle Creek, etc)

Hope your having fun T and can't wait to see the pics :tu: It does sound like something the needs to be attended at least once.

Insane guys! They are paying fortunes for crap! There is a lot of stuff here. I posted a few pic in my forum. Anyone need a 15K dollar glass table? There is also a 50K dollar guitar signed by the Beetles, 35K from Hendrix, fur coats, restored gas pumps etc. Tonight was Cheescake factory, num num! I also scored big and found a VIP drink card on the floor in front of the podium. It allows for 12 free drinks a day for bidder and guests. I am now a god among my people:bows  .

There are OLD guys with HOT young chicks everywhere. All is right in the universe. They have airplanes and helicopters out here for sale and guys are buying them. They have signed movie posters from all kinds of films and they are selling for 500-2K. I liked one from HEAT signed by DeNiro, Pacino, Kilmer etc.. There is this cool 'ride' they setup in the main tent. You can react to the tree and drag race agaist others for top score.

There is a Prevost rep, Featherlite RV and trailers etc. Outback even has a full kitchen here and the food is good. All of the beer chicks are hot with the usual enhancements. Another day of good times to be had.

I was watching last night and a 67 GTX Hemi Clone, ya I said clone, went for $110k. It wasn't even a really clean car. The speed channel guy said the chrome had some pitting and there was a little over spray still on the car. WTF????

As I said earlier, bad fakes and clones going for big money. I watched the entire show and the fit and finish on some of those cars was so bad it was visible on TV:eek:

Prices are way down tonight, so there are some good buys today.
I missed the 87 Turbo fantasy bid by $20K too high. $32K for that car was a steal.
I didn't see #396 on TV as we are over #415 now.
Okay I missed the Jag Saloon by $15K over,
non-american cars are a good deal IMHO.

We got screwed for TV as we were 4 cars before it went live. It sold for 58,860 abouts. Yeah the cars were better and the prices were more realistic. It is the weekend that will be the most insane activity.

Agree, wish I was there I love this event I watch every hour if I can. Have fun Terry, it looks like a lot of fun.

Road Trip?

Interesting thought, but difficult for most of us after burning and cashing out vacation time in December.
I would like too, but think that it would be impossible due to all the yearly planning events for me in Jan.
Maybe the Florida event?

Count me in as a maybe, I've watched for past 3 years now and get ideals and daydreams from it. Always wanted to go to Barrett-Jackson & a SEMA show one day.

Scottsdale is the only one to attend. I drove all the way back straight through 1100 miles through mountains, heavy sheer winds, and idiots. Made it back safe and in one piece time to recharge and get back to the real world..
