Super Bowl XL:
Bears vs. Patriots
Tom Brady will get his arm torn off and Corey Dillon will get hit so hard he'll crap his pants.
I do want to see a Seahawks/Bears NFC championship game tho. Would definitely be a good one. Offensive MVP vs. Defensive MVP...the Bears defense will be tough to beat.

The Patriots looked good against the Jags. The true test will be next week for them as they either plan Cincy or Indy on the Road.
Well, my prediction is Peyton Manning will not win a Super Bowl...he's the next Dan Marino. The Colts always seem to choke before the big game, and they'll do the same this year.
As a matter of fact, I think Eli Manning will win a Super Bowl before Peyton does...:D ...but not this year.

the Skins will bring the 120 yd offense and lose. Seattle will beat the bears if they play, and one of the AFC teams will win the not-so-Super Bowl by a blow out!

Bengals VS Bears
Alpine

:rll: Bengals wont get past the first round. Bengals defense has been getting torched for over 30 a game. I dont care how good the Bears defense is, their offense is a joke. Defense wins championships blah blah blah, I know. The best defense is a good offense. I do like to see the Bears in the playoffs, they can knock some fools out on the field.

Tom, hate to say it but the Bears defense, as good as it is, doesnt shut out people the way Baltimore did a few years ago. They still give up points, just look at the Pittsburgh game.. Seattle is the most likely to go from the NFC, but it could be anybody, no one is that overwhelming..
On the AFC side, I wouldnt overlook Denver. I think they are better than most give them credit for.. I think it will be Denver and Seattle in the SB extra large (XL)..

Dana, the 2000 Baltimore team isn't playing this year, so comparing that defense to the Bears defense doesn't prove anything. The Bears still had the fewest points against in the league , and beat the next closest defense by around 40 points. They also had 12 games where the opponent scored less than 20 and 9 games where the opponent scored 10 or less. They shut down Carolina, Tampa and Atlanta to the point of imbarrassment and yielded a whopping 16 points to those three teams combined. The Bears lost a few bad ones, but who in the playoffs hasn't? The offense is a totally different animal with Grossman in at QB. That opens up the passing game and the Bears all ready have a strong running game. A team that can score enough to win with a great defense and a rookie QB for most of the season has a great chance of taking it all the way.
Seattle's defense has yielded a sh!tload of points all season. Their offense has put up a bunch of points, but name one team that they played this season that HAS a defense. Arizona? St. Louis? Houston? Philly? The Giants probably have the best defense they faced all seaon. I'm not convinced that Seattle has enough. Remember, Washington did beat Seattle in their 4th game. I think Seattle goes down next week. Put that in your pipe and smoke it  :D

Oops, touched a nerve..
I just see Chicago as a one and out team this year. They had the easiest division and one of the easiest schedules. Yes they held a few teams low on points but those teams were mostly underpowered patsies.. While there is not an overwhelming favorite coming out of the NFC, no one, except die hard Bears fans think they have a shot at it.. sorry, but thats just the way it is.. If they make it, then that is great for them.. I will agree that Grossman will at least throw the ball down the field and does create a little more offense for them.. and they do have a good defense.. but the comparison I was making with Baltimore is relevant. Baltimore won the SB that year with a great defense and not much of an offense, same as the Bears. However, that Baltimore defense was a much better unit than this years Bears defense. Not dissing the Bears, just stating my opinion, and many others. Heck, I will bet you 50 (fiddy) cents that the Bears dont win one playoff game this year.. So put your money where your mouth is.. :throw:

The Bears do have a great defense and Grossman back does open up the offence for sure. They also must have some great coaching being able to win so many games this year with such a dismal offense. I wouldn't rule them out of being able to beat Washington, NY or Carolina, but I think they'll have trouble against Seattle.
I think it's going to be Seattle and Indy in the Superbowl with a win by Indy.
I dread the thought of another "defensive" Superbowl win. :nono:

I'm still saying it'll be Seahawks and Colts, witht he win going to the Colts (they have the emotional edge in this one). HOwever, this weekend surprised the hell out of me, and teams who didn't seem to have much going brought some killer defenses and handled up, so we'll see.
Watch the Bears go all the way and win the SB 3-0. :rll:

I'll be first to admit the Bears defense played piss poor. :flaming: They know that the only weapon Carolina has is Steve Smith and they still couldn't stop him. Nathan Vasher should have been tasked with covering Smith...he's probably the only one that could have held him somewhat in check. The defense gave them all three touchdowns they scored because of stupid mistakes (1. Tillman not paying attention to what he was doing on the second play of the game for the first score, 2. lining up second-year CB Thompson who hasn't played very much all season with Steve Smith in single coverage was just plain stupid giving up the second score and 3. Tillman not covering the tight end coming off the line on the goalline for the third score). Not to mention the defense gave up assloads of yards (434 is rediculous for this defense). Hindsight is always 20/20, but if the defense was on their game the Bears would have won (I'm shocked at how well the offense did this time around, after they woke up, of coarse; I could only imagine what this season would have been like if the offense played like that all season).
Now with that said, I am pissed that the defense played so terribly, but the Bears deserved to lose that game because of it. Steve Smith is one awesome little bastard, and I can't wait to see him get his ass hammered.
I am going to stand behind my pal Jeff and cheer on the Seahawks now.

Unlikely it will ever be played in Pittsburgh. Too much chance of bad weather and combined with it being an outdoor stadium makes it a bad combo to have it awarded there.
Then again, I was shocked that this year's bowl will be played in Detroit. It would be really bad for the city and the game if they suffered a massive snowfall that shut down airports and street traffic in the days before the game. That's why they've typically had them in warmer weather climates over the years. You'd have to go back to 92 in Minnesota when the Super Bowl was played in the last really cold place and they at least had a dome.

Smith is really the only threat they have. Take him out of the game and you win, plain and simple. Let him shred your defense like Chicago allowed him to do and you've got no chance. I think Seattle has all the film they'll need to shut him down considering he put on a clinic in Chicago. All the learning material is right there...Chicago put it on a silver platter for you!

Pontiac was torn down and the Lions play at Ford Field now. Still an inside stadium, though.
The way the Super Bowl works is it is either played in the south or California where there is no chance of winter weather to maximize attendance at an outdoor stadium or in an indoor field up north. Chicago, Pittsburgh, Denver, New York, Cincinnatti, New England, etc, will never get a Super Bowl because of the outdoor fields up north. Also, they consider seating capacity. If they can't seat 75,000+ in the stadium (not exactly sure of the number, but it is high) they won't bring the Super Bowl there. Therefore, as an example, Texas Stadium will not work, and it is one of the reasons they are looking to rebuild...to increase capacity and bring a Super Bowl to Dallas.

When I said Minnesota at least had a dome, it was to show why they got a Superbowl. I knew Detroit had one also, but the comment was more to show why Pittsburgh probably will never have one.

Wow, talk about a wild'n'wooly weekend! :eek2: I got caught out like alot of y'all, and my predictions went south altogether.
New prediction: Carolina and Pittsburg, Carolina wins in a hard-fought knockdown-dragout. Carolina's Goings will pick up the slack from the injured starting running back, Smith will have a standout game; Steelers' Bettis will do well, but will fumble one too many times. Of course, given my prior prediction, better put your money on Denver/Seahawks, with Jake the Fake beating the Walrus and his birds. :rll:
Another prediction: Peyton Manning, in the first game of the season next year, will get an unobstructed run from the entire defensive line of whichever team it is, and will suffer multiple injuries that will teach him to NEVER AGAIN toss his offensive line under the bus. :flaming: I swear, that one statement makes me hope he will NEVER, EVER get past a .500 season ever again, in his sorry life. What an idiot.:hammer:

I am still sticking with my original teams. Denver and Seattle.. Seattle will throttle down Steve Smith since they wont have to focus on the running game with Goins in there. Denver has been overlooked all year. The def backfield is better at Denver than Pitts, the coach is better, and the off line is better, Oh the running game is better too.. I give the nod to Denver in the SB XL right now but would have to reconsider depending on any new injuries.
