Ron, Terry?, Bobby

I need some furnace filters and can't find the ones I need other than at a wholesale AC supply house. They tell me only a licensed dealer can purchase:bs

I checked the local hardware stores and the they only carry a 20x24 or 25x25

Any way I need a 20x25x4 ZL pleated. I found an old box in the attic that is marked as follows:
Glasfloss Industries
Part#ZLP20254

If I could one of you guys to call it in as a 'will call' and either use my CC to purchase or set it up to pay when I pick it up that would be most appreciated.

LOL...well, one of those three are licensed. Anyway, call our office tomorrow AM. 972-527-3840 and ask for Mike. Tell him that I said for him to call the parts house you want to do business with in your area and set it up for a cash purchase on will call. Give him the info on what you need and tell him to check with me before he orders it, so I can make sure the parts house doesn't bill it to our account.

I use the same size filter made by Air Demon and found them at Lowes last week. I have an extra if you need. This place may have them: www.theairfilterstore.com (http://www.theairfilterstore.com).

I had to throw in my .02 :D

I'm licenesed also but I don't have enough time to run business on the side. I think the lowes in Burleson carries that size now, I will look tomorrow also I might be able to round some up from work we use that size in alot of air tables.

4" is kind of thick did someone remove an electronic air cleaner? Even 2" in residential is kind of rare. I love pleated filters!

Bobby,

You might want to check with the State. They don't have you listed as being Licensed. Unless your last name isn't Wade.

If you are licensed....great...get the state to show it. If not....please don't act like you are. I spend sh!t loads of money and time to be a legitimate licensed HVAC contractor and take great pride in it.

P.S. it is illegal to put forth your are licensed, when you are not. The state and ALL legitimate Licensed HVAC contractors are taking this issue VERY SERIOUSLY. The fine for working without a license can be as high as 20 Grand. A couple of stuborn fellers have been put in jail last year over this.

Just a heads up....;)

No problem Bobby. Sorry if I came off as some kind of hard ass about the license. Good luck on getting yours. You may want to consider one of the coarses offered by ACCA to help prepare you for the test. I went into the test the first time, expecting technical type questions. Turns out, the darned test is more about codes and heat load issues than technical. I went into the test thinking that my 15 years of experience would get me through it...LOL. I failed by a half question. I have no idea how they had that math figured out, but I made a 69.5 out of 100. I would have rather failed by 20 points than a half point. I spent the next month kicking myself in the ass for being so damned arrogant. After studying around the clock, I made a 97 on the second go around.

Anyway...please let me know if I can be of assistance in any way. Be prepared for it...the alotted time sounds like alot, but once you are sitting in the damned cubicle swetting over off the wall questions about boilers or some other off the wall crap, time seems to evaporate.

Your a pretty smart feller...you should do well on it.

On the class....word has it that the test has changed quite a bit over the last 5 years. I would sign up for the class again. just to be safe. I know a couple NATE instructers and they have told me that the State has been looking to get the State test on par with the NATE tests. Which are actually more technical in nature.

On the insurance, we have an insurance agent that handles all our insurance. Health, auto, WC, liability...ect. I pay about 10 grand a month for all of the different insurance I carry. Depending on what you want as a start up company, there are many options. The basic insurance to just satisfy minimum requirements can had through agents who specialize in HVAC liability only. I went this route our first year in business and the minimum cost was around 250 a month for a company that does 100,000 in business a year.

Once you apply to take the test, you will start receiving mail from agents that offer the insurance. If you want the name of the Agent we use, PM me and I will send you his number. I am sure he won't mind setting you up for either some minimum coverage, which is what I recommend for a fellow just starting out. If you see business is going better than expected....put aside a percentage to cover the extra insurance you will get billed for at the end of the year.

Doesn't apply Michael. My original post to him was concerning him claiming he had a license. He posted that he didn't. That makes it over...done deal.

Nothing has changed. I still will do my best to fock over any jag off I catch working without a license. I never said I wouldn't help a fellow AC man get his license.

Does this clear it up for you?
