i am thinking about selling the L and getting an excursion. i have always wanted a diesel, and every car i have owned have been lowered/bagged and all that kinda stuff. i want to baglift the excursion on 44's/22'sand do all the 4 wheels drive stuff. so basically what i am asking is for ppl to post pics of modded white lightnings so i can convince myself to keep the truck. TIA!!!!

Is your L modded or stock?

stock

to me a modded Lightning looks very similar to a stock lightning. There are far more performance mods than visual mods.

A lifted diesel excursion would get negative gas mileage wouldnt it ?:evil

it couldnt possibly get any worse with gears/chip than i get right now. lightnings arent really known for great gas milage you know.

and i am looking for more appearance modded trucks than performance because i already have a race car.

If you think the Lightning gets bad milage...your just going to love an excursion. How does about 8-9 mpg sound to you? Oh and diesel...that one just pisses me off every time I fill up my F250. Diesel is consistently higher than premium gas.

Why do you need to buy a school bus as a daily driver? You have alot of kids wanting to play soccer? I don't know what look your after, but most folks see an excursion boating around town, know that it's a mini-van in an ugly overcoat....:evil . No cool factor what so ever.

Just my $.02, but you might be jumping from the frying-pan-into-the-fire.

If you think Ls are expensive to keep and maintain, think about the Total-Cost-of-Ownership of an Excursion diesel with your planned mods.

Also, factoring-in the diesel prices, as Uncle Rocks mentioned.

Good luck either way,

Ronald

So are you thinking about joining up with the monster truck and tractor rally circuit?

Seriously though.....this is like comparing apples to oranges. The Lightning is a go fast lean and mean type hobby. The lifted truck thing is...well...I am not sure...LOL. But it is a whole different world. I am thinking your going to have to buy a spitoon as a minimum requirement. Maybe some KC lights...and a couple Garth Brooks CD's. Get one of them thar mullet hair do's. Then the fun begins...:D . I'm just kidding around a little....but we are talking two completely different games here. If you are itchin to go the high rise truck route...piss everybody off and lift the sh!t out of your Lightning. That would be different.

You should try a cummins instead. Mine gets 18mpg even while medium and light towing.

your right, the lightning is a go fast type of vehicle. well the way i see it is why keep this truck and make it fast when i already have a race car that the L will never be able to touch when it comes to performance. i am also big into car shows as well. and i was wanting to get this X and make it more of a show truck. i dont really car about the gas mileage/price deal because i have a bike that gets around 45 mpg that i have pretty much 5k invested into it.

ps......i still havent seen any pics of white L's

I like apples and oranges. I try to only dip and listen to country in the K5. Lightning is more AC/DC, but both types are I've got big balls trucks;)

I worked on one from Halloween to New Years, the longest my hair had been in 10 years and the in-laws couldn't figure out why I looked different at Christmas, they thought I lost weight.:D

I was more the hippy type. The minute I saw a certain ass clown singing achy breaky heart while wearing a mullet, I knew that I would always be commited to my rock back ground. Besides....by the time of the mullet...I had already sold out to the man...LOL.

If that is the case keep the lightning and get get the excursion

:ron::
I had a brand new, jacked up 2000 Chevy Silverado in high school, had it 6 months before I got rid of it. Had 35" tires, 6" lift and all the other goodies, and got tired of having to use a ladder to get in it.

I really didn't like the looks of it being jacked up, One reason I got both Lightnings. Lightnings are quick and stealth. Big trucks are slow and a cry out for attention IMO.

o and i do not know if anyone has said this or not....when you go to change the oil say goodbye to 6.5qts and hello to 15qts. fuel filters are more expensive.

Take it from someone who has had 4X4s you have to spend a lot of money when you lift them to get them back to the crappy mpg that they started out with

jzmolik123
01-28-2006, 07:52 PM
what would it take to get to 12-14 mpg on 44's/22's and about 20-25" of lift. gears and some computer work?

Believe it or not, this one caught me off gaurd. Oil changes in my F250 diesel give me pain....each and every one of them. Everything else to do with maintenance is more expensive also. Fuel filters for this thing just piss me off.

A miracle, if my Lightning, which is lower and more aerodynamic than a huge lifted Excursion and I'm only getting around 12-14, then there is no way the Excursion will get that kind of milage

if you get that thing pushing about 500 hp, put at least 4:56 if not lower gears, and never get over 1500rpm you might squeeze it other wise you don't hvae a snowballs chance in hell.....o and i know a guys with a stock excursion deisel and i hope you like the 44 gallon gas tanks that cost over $100 to fill up :)

o and don't go over 45mph
