I was looking online at the MAF's and noticed they sell a 2400 and a 2800
SCT 2400 Supports up to 625RWHP
SCT 2800 Supports up to 825RWHP
The site insinuates that they are both the same price so why wouldn't you just go with the 2800? Why buy the 2400 and then have to upgrade it again once you make more power?

If you look at it the only difference is the electronics. everything else is the same.. All in how much power you want... Im just going to get the 2800 unless i find a 2400 cheap in a month or so...

I am thinking it is a range issue. The 2800 may not be able to adjust AF at the lower HP ranges as accurately as the 2400.
Just speculation on my part....

The 2400 is for suck through and charged apps. The 2800 is for blow through and some large turbo apps. You want the smallest meter that fits your app. Like Rocks said you want one sized so you use as much of its scale as possible for accuracy and tuning. A huge meter on a small engine is impossible to tune and makes for driveability issues at part and closed throttle.
ie: When Keynan put a 2400 element in a Mac or C&L 95mm housing it was so large that I had to cut engine displacement to 39% to get the load tables back in scale. It shows 180 counts on the MAF going down the highway which is what most L's show at idle. It took me two days of data logging ot make it driveable.

Terry the website says SCT 90mm ‘Suck Thru’ BIG-AIR MAF Meters support up to 825HP that will NOT PEG.
I read this to mean that the 2800 is a 'Suck Thru'

Now I'm confused:confused: . I run 2400's on everything and haven't maxed out yet. That's all I know.

Quite frankly.....another tuner I know has many trucks breaking the 650-700 mark and he hasn't been recommending the 2800 either.

The SCT salesman told me that 2800's were for extreme turbo and mainly blow through apps. He said I should stick with the 2400 for any suck through power. But obviously they print conflicting reports...

Thanks Terry for getting my truck tuned...kinda. If the fuel pump wasn't out it would be perfect. Just curious once I get the 255lph pumps will I have to change the tune again?

Yes, one because your regulator line was off so the idle and cruise will be leaner, and we ran the top wide open due to loss of fuel pressure. So once you replace them it will be a different picture.

will it be safe to drive to you to get it tuned or should I wait on the pumps?
