Got rear ended in Ft. Worth tonight. Damage is actually minor - mostly just the bumper, with a little damage to the trailer hitch assembly.
So, certainly going on the guys insurance, but curious how successful anyone else has been on getting additional monies for depreciated value. I am not imagining a whole lot of money, but something.

That sucks, buddy. Sorry to hear about that. No idea on how they account for depreciation. :( Glad to hear it wasn't any worse. A bumper isn't that big of a deal.

I got tapped back in 2002, and it took over a year to get the money. When they FINALLY got around to doing it (Progressive), they just cut a nice big check (about $850 for a new bumper and repaint--no hitch damage), and I went to Bankston and had their body shop do it. It's not a big deal, and I don't think what you're wanting is really necessary. The big thing to look for is if the frame got bent.

Well, this guys insurance claims department is apparently only open 8-5 M-F with an hour off for lunch each day. Oh, and thats Eastern time.
Things I have noticed so far:
- bumper will need replace
- Hitch assembly looks bent
- Right turn signal bulb must be burned out, it ticks super fast
- popped my aftermarket stereo out of the dash
I dont imagine the depreciated value is going to be a large amount, but the fact that I now have a Carfax record of it is a minus in my book. It would certainly give me pause about buying the truck if it were me.
I do know it could have been a lot worse, so I am thankful for that.

You must have taken a pretty good hit to pop the stereo out of the dash. Maybe you should get to the hospital....whip lash is a possibility here. Maybe even partial disability. Your probably going to need years of therapy. I would get an attorney:eek: .

If the hitch is bent in any way the frame could easily be bent also.

Sounds like time for a Roll Pan and a Hide-away Hitch to me! Less than the Factory bumper and hitch.

That sucks. I hope you are ok. The truck is an easy fix.

IIRC, the hitch/bumper mount are on a section of frame that's removable/replaceable. But the best thing to do is check the frame anyway.
