In the picture the tire looks to me like its almost shot. When My tires look like that I start loooking for new ones... THere is NO way that is 7/32

I think you take an extremely big risk by buying used tires. There's usually a reason somebody is getting rid of them.

I bought an extra pair of rims last year from a fellow member. I was buying them to put some 555R's for the track. I came across a set that was advertised at 50% tread left on them, I paid a premium because there were tires already on them and I wouldn't have to buy any for a little while. When I got them, the tread was cupped a little with the center well into the wear bar and 1/31 to 2/32 tread on the outsides. So the average would put the tire right at the wear bar. If I were selling these tires I would classify those tires as having 0%-10% left on them. I didn't even mention it because I didn't want to raise a stink and because I like the guy. They work fine for the track which was my intention in the first place even if the tread is getting into the wear bars. My point is that a whole lot of people misjudge the condition of a used tire, (remaining tread, etc.) even if they have good intentions.

Goodyear F1 tires will only get +-20,000 miles if they are babied, i.e., never over 50 mph and wheel alignment every 5,000-miles. If these have 23k on them they are shot.

If you could get them for $100 or so, then it may not be a bad deal or if you just needed a spare or two not so bad, otherwise I agree with Doug on this one.

btw, I might be needing me some DR's.. anyone got a lead? beside brand new?

And I got 24K out of a set of F1's, but I can attest that neither Mark nor I have ever exceeded 50 MPH. :twitch:

We still have the F1s on the rear with 27K miles, but they are getting pretty bald. Luckily for the first year it was all slow in-town driving.
