For those concerned about the authenticity of your L (if bought used) or any other Ford vehicle you own (back to 1947) you can call Ford.
Simply call 800-392-3673 and request a "History 999" report. There is no cost but you will need your vin #.
What you get is a report decoding your VIN, the date it was produced, and options it came with originally.
Not necessary for most of our L's but if you're concerned about keeping cars original for collectabilty it is cool.
I asked nicely on a VIN # on a car that I'm considering buying and they are sending me a build sheet for it. I needed it to validate options that were on the car to see if they were original.
