Although I have had my L for 6 months I haven't driven it much. I've spent more time taking it places and buying stuff for it than driving it. I mean that very literally. I also ended up spending way more than I had originally planned. All that being said, I finally got it home today.....for good. I took it for a cruise and a couple of kids in a 70 El Camino SS chased me down and bullied me into a race. It sounded really healthy with a big stall, cam, at least 4.10's and all the usual hot rod kind of stuff. Needless to say it we raced. It was classic. We both went up in smoke and I ended up beating him by half a truck or so. Slick to slick I think he would have won....too bad that he didn't have any on at the time! I haven't had that much fun racing on the street in a long time! If it was a sign of things to come I know I will really love driving the Lightning. Also, I recently bought a 96 Mustang Cobra and it happened to arrive today so I raced my Cobra against my Lightning (my friend in the L) on the way home. The L annihilated the Cobra. No contest. I'm so happy!!

Tom, now you know why we do what we do... congrats.. unfortunately, you may find yourself just spending more money on mods... its hard to stop once you start.

I'm sort of in the same situation. I've got Hotchkis coils/sways, JLP drop shackles, EBC rotors/pads and clunk washers in transit.

I need to get on the QA1s with the heim-joints and order.

Congrats on having a Lighting / Cobra stable. :nana2

I have a lot of stuff already. When my pals @ Ford installed my motor they brought the truck back to stock. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, computer was shot, while it was moded. I have to re-install all my stuff. Right now the truck is stock with a 4lb pulley, headers, and a metco filter...I have a lot of stuff to put back on including my new chrome wheels. The body shop did a great job and the truck looks as good as it runs.

Got the wheels on. Wow. Thanks again Dana! For some reason the wheels look smaller in chrome. I think that the truck needs to be 3 inches lower now. I'm going to install the catback, stereo, plenum and sbtb this weekend. Maybe I can get home early enough tonight to take some pics. I have already got a lot of comments about how good the truck looks- from complete strangers, the guys at the tire shop, the parking attendant at work....who knew?

anytime I take mine to virtually any kind of shop or the electronics place, the boys always talk to me about mine.. they really like it when you take em for a "ride".. :evil

What has been nice is that, at least here in Erie, the guys treat the truck with respect and take extra time doing anything to it. It gets pampered here WAY WAY more than it ever did in Dallas..

Cat back is installed. The Bassani set up sounds identical to the Flowmasters that I replaced???? I'm surprised because the truck is pretty quiet. My neighbors stock dodge with exhaust is louder than my L with headers and a cat back. I also have the Bassani catless mid pipes. Are those too loud? Worth putting on? I chickened out because a lot of guys on NLOC have said that L's without cats are unbearable. Is this true? Do I ask a lot of questions?

Dana,

Do you race your truck at the track or is it a fast cruiser?

Dana,

to date more of a fast cruiser, and the local police know me that way too:crying:

however, now that my warranty is up, I am taking it to the dragstrip up here this year to do some runs.. I havent made up my mind whether to get some NittoDR's and drive them everyday or get some wheels and slicks for the track. I have a fair amount of wheelspin and need to get what power I have planted to the ground. Plus, if some ricer boy comes my way, I dont want to sit there and spin my tires while he drives away in his 15 sec wonder..
