Calling the computer experts

I need some computer help. I have a Compaq (sp) laptop that doesn't work well. I'm not sure if it's a software or hardware problem. Can anyone here look at it or know a shop where I can take it and not get screwed on the repair bill. Thanks

If you want to use a company, PC Housecall is your best bet. I used to work for them before I got a better job. They really know their stuff and are about the cheapest you can get. Good value.

What exactly seems to be the matter? I'm not exactly the desk-top support guy, but I'll try to help. My background is the server-side piece.
