Yep....up $.30 since first week of March. I have a receipt for Mid-grade at $2.29 a gallon on March 7th before I went to FLorida, came back on the 19th and got gas and it was $2.59 a gallon at the same station.

It was higher here than in S. Florida.

The funny part is that the government just gave the financials for last month and said gasoline has dropped almost 0.30/ gallon since last month and to expect it to drop below $2.00 for regular in the next coming months.

They need to explain that to the gas stations...

I saw $2.79 for 93 at a nearby Shell today.

Has anyone noticed how the newer stations have the LED gas-price signs v. the old-school plastic signs for the ever-increasing volatile gas-prices?

Does that say anything like "get out of bed with those Arab bastards and take care of your own country?"

Seriously tho.....how many billions do we have to spend to protect our interests? We can shed the facade and let our intent be known.

We value foreign oil, and we will protect our interests. I still don't understand why we haven't taken our 300B+ that we have spent on the war in Iraq and taken it back in oil.

Yeah, that allows them to change their prices remotely, at their whim.

Down with the oil cartel :throw:

Wes has an interesting point. Our government could have taken 3% of what we have spent in/on Iraq and subsidized gas in the us. It makes you wonder. People in Iraq are mad because gas prices have soared above the equivalent of $.20 a gallon.....something ridiculous like that anyway. Unfricken believable.

And now you konw the REAL truth: tho the "action" in Iraq (it's no more a war than Vietnam was) is an "oil war", it's being waged for the profit of the oil interests. Our sons and daughters are dying so Cheney et al can pad their bottom lines, and at our expenses.

This was an intersting read: http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/ Not all of it I agree with (I think corn and alcohol can be more viable than they think), but it's an interesting point of view nonetheless.

I disagree with both of you, except that it is an "oil war" to a degree. Our economy does depend on oil, whether as a fuel or an ingredient in other items, specifically plastics.
Yes, the oil companies are the ones that generally ship it here and either refine it, sell it in the form or fuel or products that other companies use (to make plastics, for example). So we are fighting this war to do that and to hopefully instill some sort of democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, basic Western philosophy and more of a free market economy in an area of the world that is known more by heavy handed dictators. Until we decide to drill more here (against the wishes of the greenies, see actions taken to prohibit drilling in N Alaska) or change what we use for fuel (alcohol, used french fry grease, hydrogen, etc) we are at the whim of several dictator and dictator-like countries/carels. So we are protecting a "way of life" ... ours..

Gas prices will never be too high to cause me to buy one of those. I'd rather walk to work in the snow 20 miles uphill both ways than own one of those...:vomit:

The 2004 xA was actually something my wife picked out, but it has kinda grown on me over the past six months. I certainly like it more than the xB (box). The xA is very affordable, seats four adults comfortably, comes with quite a few ammenities as standard equipment, gets outstanding gas mileage (35/40), is low-maintenance, and with the fold-down rear seat, it's surprisingly versatile.

With zero down and $232.00 per month for the note, we're saving that much in gas each month over what we'd pay if my wife drove her '04 SuperCrew to work every day.

Cool Ken. I was just dogging on you to help you feel more welcome. I honestly can't really stand anything made by Scion, ESPECIALLY that stupid box on wheels they make. I just wish the auto manufacturers made fuel-efficient vehicles that were actually appealing to the eye. In order to get something relatively cool you gotta burn lots of dino, I guess.

Dana,
I'm a native Houstonian and live on the NW side of town..... the Jersey Village/Langham Creek area.

Tom,
I don't really care for the xB, and even the xA took some getting used to. However, the tC is a pretty cool 2-door. Just a little too pricey for what we needed.

I've actually grown rather fond of the xA and find it to be a fun car to drive. The xA is built on the Toyota Echo chassis and the Echo is hideous. Unlike some of the local ricers, I have no plans to dress it up with racing stickers, a big rear deck wing, unpainted ground effect kits, grapefruit launcher exhaust,...etc. We'll keep it bone stock and use it for its intended purpose; economical transportation. :D
