The pump for my IC fluid is not working. Mike told me there is a delay on it but I drove for about 15 min got out and looked at it and nothing. So he also told me to tap on the pump itself and it started working. Does this mean I need to go ahead and get a new pump for it or just tap it everytime I want it to work? Anyone else having this problem? Thanks -Kyle

With the truck hot and running beat the hell out of the pump and see if it starts working. You'll probably need a new one. Make sure it is plugged in while you are down there.

Here is a replacement part # Bosch Intercooler Pump, P/N 0 392 022 002

You can do an internet search for the best price.

I bought mine here for about $147 or so. If you go with Ford OEM it will be over $300 bucks!

or here:

You might be able to take yours apart and clean it up.

Take it off and take it apart and clean it. It uses some kind of magnetic induction between the motor and the impeller. Mine... as everyone else's, gets some kind of dust in side... black stuff that I think comes off the magnetic wheel. Tap it on the ground or blow it out and put back together and reinstall. Mine was hanging up multiple times a week before I pulled it out to clean. Before that... a good rap with a hammer would work for a month or so.

OBTW... I cleaned it last fall and everything is still working.

Cleaning the unit is hit and miss-but worth a try. I've cleaned one and its still going strong and we cleaned another and it died right after we installed it.

IMO... it's all in the cleaning. I actually used a solvent and then blew it with my air gun. I'll be the first to chime up if the pump fails but I think the motor is fine... it's the crud.

Odd. Mine works fine and never had a problem with the factory unit.

When I hit it, it starts working. I shut off the truck and start it back up and it is operating normal. If I wait a little while start it again it will not work. All the connections are good and clean, is it gunked up that bad inside or something else the matter? I did notice little black particles in my resivoir and did not know if I should go ahead and replace the fluid and clean everything. If I do this do I need to take the blower off and clean the intercooler? I have never messed with any of that before and if it is not necessary then I wont just need a little help still. Thanks! -Kyle

No need to remove the blower.
Get up to normal operating temperature and drain the lower intercooler, the little one in the bottom of the front bumper. There is drain valve on it, not the radiator one. If this doesn't help then take the pump out and disassemble it and clean as recommend by others.

What kind of solvent should I use? Also what kind of fluid should I put back in it after drained. I see a lot of people with green stuff when mine looks clear.

I would just flush with water a couple of times and then add a 50/50 mix of Antifreeze and water.

What about the solvent to clean the pump with? If anyone wants to help with that this weekend feel more than welcome to!!!! I will have beer of course. If not I will just start tearing stuff apart but this really does not sound like something hard to do. Thanks again for the help everyone!

I would only use water and maybe a soap like simple green.
