A marine sniper I talked to from Desert Storm said they used them to knock down a few camels in the desert. He also said the locals kind of worshiped the camel and frowned upon their actions. Remember the movie Navy Seals where Charlie Sheen or whomever was praying to 'god' and he answered:D .

Nothing but respect for the .50 cal.:bows One of my dorm neighbors in college had a 30mm cartridge from an A-10 Warthog and the dang thing was as big as a paper-towel tube. :eek2:

Just to put the .50 round's size into perspective.:tu:

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh,

What did we see or hear that led us to come to the conclusion that that was .50 cal.

I am not aware of any .50 cal explosive projectile ammo.

If you watch the videos closely, the exposion is approximately 90 degrees to the line of site, that is not the way that the force of a solid projectile works, it is in the same direction as the line of site.

I've seen this video before, and I don't know, but to me those do not look like rifle fire impacts on soft (human) targets. However, I've never personally witnessed someone getting hit with a .50 BMG bullet.

I have ALWAYS been one of the groundhog believers. The landscape is out of porportion to be humans. Its an old video.

And I have pictures of humans that have been hit by .50BMG rounds. But I dont think doug would like it if I posted them. PM me is you have a legitimate intrest in seeing the ballistic results.

I've seen pics of .50 BMG hits on humans. Kinda' lets the air out of 'em. Just never seen it first hand.

assumed the Shots had to be comeing from a diff angle from the camera , like you said 90 degrees or so off

Smart#sses!

Check out the capabilities of the .50 BMG rd. in this vid. against a manhole cover, 2" steel plate and a safe: http://www.filecabi.net/video/50caliber.html

I'm sort of surprised how quickly and accurately the shooter pulled off those 7 rds. against that 600 lb. safe. :bows I've read that the muzzle-braked M82 only kicks about like a 7mm Rem. Mag.

You're right about the safe except he fired 10 rounds -- but who is counting:beer:

You're correct, Milton. :) I'd like to shoot one a few times just to experience that sort of power and accuracy. :bows

I've been fortunate to shoot one of those - the muzzle brake on those things is extrememly effective and the shooter is able to keep the taget sighted very easily for fast follow up shots. The recoil is not as sharp as the 7mm mag, maybe closer to a heavy 30-06 load.
