I have a chance at a 2001 Crown Vic, fully loaded dual exhaust police package, black, 180K miles, washed and detailed weekly, and maintained monthly at the dealer.
It is a corporate car for a local salesman being forced to trade it in for an Eddie Bauer Expedition.

$2.8K

What do you think, worth buying?

Seems like a lot of money for a 5 year old car with 180k miles.

I have a 18 year old K5 with 130k miles that I won't let go for less than 5K, so it looks like a pretty good deal to me.
Again, more input is always appreciated.

I would go for it if I were you. Those cars are built for those kind of miles.

I assume that is a 4.6L? A lot of miles, but you have to assume there have been a number of parts replaced, so it sounds like a good deal to me.

KBB says 3500 and 4500 as private value for the sedan or LX models. I was amazed. There has to be some highway miles there.

I've oftern considered buying one of those and putting a blower on it. That would make a great sleeper. It's worth the money but only as a DD. If you take good care of it and drive it easy, you might get another 100k out of it.

I just happen to have an extra blower sitting around.:D

To put it in perspective, we sell our Crown Vic Police Interceptors at auction after 2 years of service with right around 100K miles on them. Not salesman miles, but hard patrol miles, a jillion hours of idle time, rubber floors, half a dozen holes in the roof and trunk lid from antennaes and light bars, and two tone black and white paint job. I'm told ours typically bring about $7K at auction. I couldn't believe they'd bring that much $$, but it routinely happens.

Personally, I don't like the Crown Vics, but I still lust after the '94-'96 Impala SS. I loved those bathtub Caprice 9C1 squads.

Looked at the car today and it's a Police Interceptor, really clean with optional Ford wheels.

It's a good deal, but not sure I want to drive a Crown Vic instead of the K5:confused:

You are getting older, and a crown vic would fit your new style just fine.....:rll:

Exactly, I haven't aged to my new Crown Vic style yet, at least not physically or mentally, maybe socially;)

Keeping the K5 and the L.

I don't know. It would probably suit you in your advancing years. My 64 year old Mom drives a Grand Marquis which is the same car.
