I just thought I would let you guys in on a little something my family and I have completed. The just purchased land is 84.58 acres in Slidell Texas the land is located on the corner of 455 and 51. Any guesses why I purchased it? You road racers should know this already.
If you want to know more here is a link. The land my family and I purchased is about 1.5 miles from this. Can you say a place to crash after a race.

What we really need is a 1/4 track that isn't 2hrs from the Metroplex

I have already looked into this and well there is a snagg. Ennis has the NHRA cert for 150 mile radius. This means that you can not build and certify a 1/4 track within 150 miles of Ennis. That is why there is not anymore around the metroplex. You can build one but why would you spend 5 or 6 million building it if you can not get the NHRA or the IHRA to it? I know ther are alot of people who would come but is it worth a 30 or even 50 entry fee with all of the insurance, equipment and other operating costs associated with a drag strip? first off you would not make any money and the doors would be closed as fast as you opened them.
Yea I have already considered it and even been incontact with the NHRA and this is what I found out from them.
Now I have a little piece of land in Gainesville which is 5 miles from Oklahoma and it is outside of the radius but who would want to drive to Gainesville to race since it is just as from from the metroplex.

Why in hell can't they build something up in THIS corner of the Metroplex?? :crying: I mean, FtWorth has MSR Cresson, TMS, Kennedale, and now this??
Brent, if you built a nice combo setup, with a 1/4 track, a good road race track, and an autpcross pad, you would not only get me (and you're closer to me in Slidell than I am to the aforementioned places), you would get SCCA and ER's autcrossers, and a goodly number or road racers and draggers who are tired of driving two hours to get anywhere.
I say, "Build it, and they will come." Yep, right out of "Field of Dreams." :tu:

Tex the SCCA has already signed for like 10 yrs to run there as well as the Porche, Ferrai(sp) (early) and I believe the Lambo clubs of America. I have also heard that the corvette club of America has also expressed intrest in the track. It is suppose to be a 2 or 2.5 mile road course and then he is going to build an off road course for extreeme and ATV's. He has it covered except for the 1320 and we already addressed that.
I look to see not only SCA and Formula 1 at this track by 2007 but I suspect that we will see NASCAR and Bush at the track in 2008 or 2009. I am hoping and that is what I am banking on. This is my retirement.:tu:

I bet you'd get more business then you think. Not only is Ennis far, but it's crowded so you only get 2-3 runs in a night. That's the main reason I haven't really gone. Gainsville would be a lot closer for the people on the northern side of the metroplex. I'd go. :)

Redline is a very nice track.
Northeast of the Metroplex 26 miles and none of you go now.
Yes it is an 1/8 mile but 0 to 90 is plenty of fun.

Not to be the contrarian here.. but F1 by 2007? no way, not at the pace they move.. maybe someday but not that soon.. I'd bet a paycheck on it.. besides, F1 is looking to go to Las Wages after their stint at Indy..

1/8 mile isn't a lot of fun. I've got Kennedale about 10 mins from me. If it were 1/4 I'd go a lot more often.
I just can't get into the 1/8 mile for some reason.

It's all over by the 1/8 mile 98% of the time.
