i am new to the lighting scene but just recently had texas best install a line mod valve and 4x4 pan. they also put in there own version of a shift kit with different springs and such. needless to say, the thing feels like someone hitting you in the head with a two by four on the 1-2 shifts and 2-3 shifts. whoooa what a feeling. great guys too.

Do you have a chip? If not, just wait. Depending on how you view it, the condition gets worse, but for most of us, it gets much better. :D

We also have a guy around here who does stuff like that to our trannys. When your 1-2 clutches go out give him a call. His name is Terry (L8APEX) with Performance Research. He also has lots of go fast parts and does installs at your conveniance. He's also a supporting vendor which means he pays $$$$ to advertise his products on this Board.

Don't mess with just the line mod or raising line pressure via the chip. I'm an advocate of the full Valve body myself....do it right the first time. Then again you can do it right the second time when you replace yout tranny with the Monster box :D

Ask 380HP about his Monster Box, it lasted at least 2500 miles:eek2: If you have a chip the springs are bad. Tuners shorten the shift engagement time from 400mSec to 200mSec. This makes the quicker shifts you notice. The extra spring tension shortens this engaement time even more and makes for snappy 2-3 shifts and OD engagement at light throttle. if you have a valve body you need to gap the engagement time back to 400mSec. I have swapped out springs in a few trucks that had those issues. The FT valve body just has a medium size line valve. The JDM is a larger valve.

Terry,
I'd like to do the 4# pulley thing, but really don't want the tranny to frag because of it. Is the very best thing to do a valve body replacement, deep pan, oil pick-up mod, and a chip that does not change transmission parameters? Or is there a parameter that can be changed ( 4 cyl drop @ shift)? The tranny in my '93 lasted 135,000 miles with nothing but regular maintenance untill the torque converter let go (plastic impeller, I was told). That truck was un-modified; this one won't be so lucky, but I still want the tranny to hang on for at least 100,000 miles, or whenever the 500hp Lightnings come out! Thanks for your input:tu:

If you want girly shifts can get the medium size line mod:D That is about all you can do to make the stock clutches last. There are a dozen of my trucks out there with 4#, chip, and no tranny troubles. Like you said the G2 makes twice the HP and toruqe of your G1. Let me know when you are ready. I have everything in stock except for the chip:tu:

yep, still going strong. not one problem. what is suspect?
i have the line mod valve, the 4x4 pan and filter, synthetic fluid and chip programmed for mod valve. the only thing they put in of their own was the springs. but don't the new accumulators have those anyways?

I'm sure they do better work on 4R100 mods verses rebuilds on other trans.

20k and 1yr later on a rebuild in my stang and it's toast:bs
Not a happy camper when I'm out that kind of cake and don't have my daily driver running:flaming:
At least I have the L as a backup:tu:
