Hemi sucks fuel

I was scanning through CR at new truck reports and took this excerpt on the Hemi trucks.
The 5.7-liter Hemi V8 makes the Ram fairly quick but also very thirsty, averaging only 11 mpg.

Not too long ago a friend of mine had an 05 Ram 1500. IT had the 4.7 motor but it's mileage was pretty much excactly the same as my truck, low to mid 13s. It had the 3.73 gears in it, he kept telling me it was geared too high, it took too much from the motor to get that heavy ass truck moving. I always called BS on that but he ended up proving me wrong. He had his gears swapped out to 4.56 gears and to my suprise and everyone elses his mileage went up to 17mpg. He told me that problem isnt in just the 4.7 trucks, but in the Hemis as well, Dodge just gears them too high for the drivetrains, it takes way too much from the motors to get them going.
