What does everyone think about bypassing the boost? If you don't know what I'm talking about visit this link: http://rpmoutlet.com/boost%20bypass.htm I am wanting to do this, but am not sure if it is really safe????

I have it done to my 03 Lightning. It keeps your supercharger from dumping boost after a violent burnout. I didn't see any extra boost from it. Its completely safe.

After a violent burnout the bypass valve dumps around 3lbs of boost until you restart your truck. This mod prevents that from happening. You can achieve the same results by unplugging the power to the bypass valve when you go to the track. :tu:

in 01-04 L the bypass is controled by the computer, basically the "Boost bypass mod" is useless on 01+ L's

So is there anything that can be done to fix this boost problem? Or how do we contact Terry (L8Apex)? Remember I am new to this whole forum stuff. Thanks for all the information though.

just unplug it.. it wont cause a check engine light or anything...

+1 i have mine unplugged(the electrical connector) and all is well

I turn it off when I tune the PCM. There are two systems, the mechanical vacc line and the solenoid that dumps signal to the waste gate. I prefer to leave the mechanical safety functional and turn off the electrical solenoid so the computer isn't dumping boost everytime you peel out.

All trucks are plumbed the same the only changes engine wise are intake and MAF in 01, and 7 thread plug heads in late 03. They also beefed the block in 03 sometime. They changed crank and cam sensor plug-ins from 99-00 and up. They relocated the IAT2 sensor with the 01 intake along with a different bolt pattern for the S/C. They changed balancer pulleys in 01 with a built in threaded part vs the two piece design of 99-00. In 2002 they stopped bolting down the vacuum booster line and started clipping it to the firewall. and stuff like that.

Well since everyone is putting down the boost bypass idea. How do I turn off the electrical solenoid? Since this seems to be the best way to fix that problem.
