New Tires

Guys what should i do i need new tires but don't know what to go with.
Should i go with the NT555's or the F1's. Hardly any racing here mostly daily driving need more tread wear than traction and proformance. Also is there any other tires that would fit on our trucks thanks for your inputs.

I went with 555's in the front, and the 555R DR's in the rear.

i would say go with the nitto 555's if you could find some or the toyo proxes both have decent tread wear, i have also here that the hankooks last forever and are cheap but traction is probablly pretty poor with them

NT555's FTMFW. There is no comparison between them and F1s. Wet and dry traction is outstanding, turn-in is excellent, and I've been told (and so far this is bearing out) that their wear life is longer than F1s.

I am exceptionally happy with these tires, and my next set will be more of the same. :cool:

Thats what i use mine for. I'm a computer tech and i have 4 centers that i take care of and drive anywhere from 0-150 miles a day and need a tire that is going to have really good tread wear. I never race unless a ricer or Mustang trys to act hard. I think i'm going to go with the hankook. Do you think that i can get them cheaper through discount tire or ebay on ebay its 599 with free shipping but then i have to worrie about mounting and all that. discount tire said today that they are on national back order and will take a month and i don't want to be driving on spare for a month.

What he said, except you don't ahve to go with the 555r's on the back, the standard 555's are fine. Toyos look nice, but they are very hard compared to th 555 and the F1s, but they will last you longer.

Yes, the Toyos are long-lasting, but they are definitely hard/slick, especially in the wet. :rolleyes:

I think I replaced mine at < 18k, from the factory F1s due to a tread/sidewall puncture and I'm at ~45K now.

FWIW, the Toyo Proxes were decent, IMO. I never had problems in the rain with 'em, unless I gunned it. Very true though, decent for one is crap for another.

Nitto 555 Extremes on the front, Nitto 555Rs on the back here. The Extremes are priced about the same as the F1s and are a much better tire with longer treadwear.

Original F1's--28,000 miles (probably had another 2 or 3,000 miles in them except for a sidewall puncture). Good traction wet or dry, decent at strip (stock), sucked once I started modding, excellent on a road racing course.

Punctured F1--replaced 2 rears with used Toyos that had about 48,000 on them and probably another 10,000 in them. I only ran them for about 2,000 miles--hated them that bad.
Compared to F1's--UUGGG!!! Hard, slippery, fun to hang the rear out, but absolutely no traction dry and reduced traction wet compared to F1's.

1st replacement set--Nitto 555's all around--30,000 miles,
Compared to F1's--10-20% better traction dry, about the same wet.

Nitto 555's up front, 555DR's on back means no more power sliding and not a lot of this :burnout: So far 3,000 miles about 25% tread wear on DR's (the 10,000 mile wearout is probably about right)
Compared to F1's--WOOHOO!!!, talk about hooking up, I dont have to be nearly so careful with the throttle at the line....of course hanging the rear out is harder (they are kinda unpredictable when not in a strt line)and they make the truck feel like a boat in the corners. Not recommended for cornering or power sliding.

I will probably go back to the regular 555's on the rear next time due to the cornering thing and the expense (3 sets @ 10,000 miles vs. 1 set @ 30,000 miles)

I think Moonshine ran 12.89's on Toyos with only a chip and filter?
I think they are very noisy and ugly. I prefer the 555's.

Do you have blacked out wheels and a fin on the back of your snug top? If so i saw you this morning on Oak Lawn(about 750ish) going under the bridge right before Stemmons.

If it wasn't you, someones blacked out True Blue (Sonic Blue....whatever) looked and sounded good :tu:

Ok went with the Hankook Ventus ST's all the way around. Found out what was wrong with the truck though. my F1's they pulled off still had really good thread on them but the inside where sidewall and thread meet was rubbed down to the steel in the tire. asked them why and they said my truck's wheels were toed out to far or something. anyway to get that fixed and all 4 tires and mount and aligned was 823.74 little bit more than it would have cost at discount but my warranty paid for something i needed to replace with my front end. thanks for all your help guys.
