What's up fellers. Just thought I'd post up on our vacation. My family, brother-in-law and his family are going to Alaska for two weeks. First week is a train trip through Denali Nat'l Forest and the Second week is a cruise down to BC Canada. Gonna stop for some Salmon fishing and whale watching. Weather looks like it's going to be in the low 80's to high 40's. Sounds better than 100+. Should be a good time for all.

Let me start by saying you will have the time of your life!!!!

We did the opposite, took a cruise out of Canada, then train trip through Denali. You can see Michael Jordan's Summer house from the train. I would suggest taking a helicopter trip and going on top of a glacier. Catching a king Salmon is like pulling a bull dog out of the water. I believe its one per person is the limit. If you know how to fly fish there are some excursions where they take you on a sea plane and fish some fresh water creeks and rivers from melted snow, great fishing!!!! Although be careful whatever you d, on our fly fishing trip the guides had two 12 gauge shotguns for bears.

Fairbanks was kinda humid and had a lot of mosquitoes

What cruise line are you going on??

Celebrity cruises. Yea, my son and I were talking about the bears and he asked if they can run fast. I told him all we needed to take care of the bears is some Bud Light. If that didn't work all I had to do was out run him......I looked into the chopper trips and at $500. ($478 actually) per person....no thanks. I'm sure that's a once in a life time experience but there is 5 of us and at $2,500 for the group it'll have wait till I'm rich.

Did you ship any fish back? What kind of costs is involved it that?

That sounds like a GREAT time.. :ron: been to Alaska a couple of times for business, so didnt get to do too much sight seeing.. mostly around Anchorage, but we wanted to move there after our visit.

Have a great time and be safe.

I went to Alaska for 3 weeks 2 years ago. If you get a chance charter a plane to see Mt. McKinley. It is great. I used Kantishna Air. You are going to love the trip. The mosquito's are a nightmare though.

Yup, its been a few years, but my dad shipped mine and his fish back. As I recall it is pretty practical
