Surprise, surprise!!
Today I dropped off the L at Terry's. It's getting the "package" he discussed a couple of weeks ago in his section of this site.
Kenne Bell
Kooks long-tube headers, off-road pipes (leaving my Magnaflow cat-back/pipes)
60lb injectors
SCT MAF
Single-blade TB
T/A rear-end girdle
Metco lower arms
Twin 255lph fuel pumps
E-fan
and of course, the most important thing... a dyno tune
Taking it to the next level. :)

Sounds like somebody's gonna have some serious fun. Sweet package for a sweet truck. I'm still jonesing to see the truck with those brushed HRE's. Reckon I'll try and make my way to Terry's some time next week to finally get a look-see. Grats on the goods bro!:tu:

Let me know when you get it back so we can hookup. I would love to see it and shoot the breeze. hope life is treating you well..mp:tu:

Tex, yes I'm keeping the 4#lower. No need to swap that out. I got 3 pulleys with the KB, so Terry can get it right where he wants as far as max boost is concerned. I doubt we'll be pushing it over 15-16psi.

My DSG recieved the same procedure not long ago and I must tell you the thing that keeps happening to me is I get one of these:D everytime I hit the throttle.
Best of luck with the mods:tu:

Hmmm.... If it's that special, I may have to rethink the "I'm done." thing.
I'm obviously very interested in how this comes out. Keep us posted and grats on the new toys.

KA-BOOM!! It'll take more than Manley rods to hold it together under those conditions, I'm afraid. I don't know what we'll end up at boost-wise or power-wise, but I would imagine 20psi with long-tubes and aftermarket cams (which probably bleed off some boost at lower rpm), would be in the 550-575rwhp range. I won't be near that.

:rll::rll: Ohmsby you might have a very good point from what I saw.. And the lovely Mrs.P has been giving me funny looks lately after viewing your ride..but life is good!.......mp:tu:

True, been running the same set up street at 15 for years now, with lots of highway kick downs, but it really wakes up at 18 at the track, also for years.
Not stating that it is safe, just possible and fun.

Wes...
Didn't I read a thread earlier this year where you were thinking about getting rid of the L?
The mod's sound sweet... I want to place dib's on a ride once you got is sorted out.

Picked up the truck from Terry this PM. Here are my observations under very limited spirited driving so far.
1) Driveability is excellent. No bucking/surging/anything.
2) The exhaust is, well... kickar$e. Kooks LTs, catless mid pipe, and Terry's patented exhaust setup (ask him, NOT me). I figured it would be way, way louder without cats and with the LTs in place. Suffice to say it just sounds really good. It's louder than before, but not deafening at all. In fact at idle, you can hear the 255lph fuel pumps and the electric fan (neither of which are what I'd consider obnoxiously loud).
My son gets in as we head out to baseball practice, I fire it up and he says "whoa... it sounds different... it sounds great!" Later on coming home he says, "your truck sounds like an old muscle car". Pretty astute, b/c that's how I'd describe it as well. Blip the throttle and it roars pretty good. ;)
3) Tough to say how quick it is. It was 100+F this afternoon and I was typically on the highway, so I didn't do any 60-70mph full-throttle kickdowns into 2nd... probably not a great idea anyway. I rolled into it once in 1st and it pulled hard. The KB with the full exhaust definitely seems to be a bit softer on the bottom-end, but again it was very hot out and I had the A/C on. Once it gets over 3k rpm, it pulls very hard. Max boost is right at 15psi. Terry did tell me that the old Troyer tune was too aggressive (plugs looked lean) and the timing was definitely higher than what he's got it running now.
I'll get it on a dyno sometime, but it may have to wait a bit. Last time I dyno'd it was very cool, so even with an SAE correction, I'm not sure it would be a fair comparison at this point.
For now, I'll need to relearn how to drive the truck. It's definitely a different feel... both aural and in throttle response.
A big thanks to Terry! The workmanship is first-class, and that's what he turns out every time. Very impressive. :D

Well grats on the work. I knew it would come out great.
Given that you have 15lbs of boost with the exhaust, I'm guessing you went with the 3" upper and kept the 4# lower?

Yes, its a 3" upper and 4# (~9") lower. Terry said I should consider running the 3.25" upper in the winter months, and that's a good idea. Boost will certainly climb 2#'s when its 40F vs. 100F ambient.

Schweeeet deal, Wes... well done. :tu:
BTW, didn't Terry do a dyno when he did the tune?

No, Terry road tunes it w/ a wideband A/F monitor. I agree with this and have been a proponent of this for a long time. The fact is, a typical Dynojet does not put max load on the engine/driveline like real-time driving/racing does. If you ever get to test a turbo car, you'll see this just by the fact the boost will typically go up 1+psi on the street compared to the same exact setup on a dyno.
Road tuning also allows better tuning for driveability. But most tuners do not want to take the time (or have the time) to do this, so they slap it on the dyno. That's ok, and often its fine like that, so I'm not trying to diss the dyno tuning that is done. I just think for fine tuning, you have to do it on the street/track.

When ya gonna let me take it for a test drive?? :D

A contrasting viewpoint would be that from my wife. I took the Trailblazer SS in today for its first oil change, so she took my truck to drop the kids off at school.
I get a phone call while I'm at the dealership... "your truck is LOUD!" Me... "well yeah, if you get on the gas. What were you doing, racing someone?" Her..."no. It's loud all the time. When you start it up, when you give it any throttle at all. It is embarrasing." Me... "<chuckling> Oh, its not that bad." Her... "yes it is. Are you about done up there. I want my car back."
:rll:
I'm taking it to the dyno tomorrow AM. We'll see how it does.
