My son goes to HEB schools and is not affected by this. I think it's a good idea but it sure seems pretty late to be dropping this on parents of kids in the Fort Worth ISD.

Fort Worth schools unveil new dress code

STAR-TELEGRAM
School starts in Fort Worth in two weeks, and for the first time, all students in prekindergarten through eighth grade must wear clothing that meets the district's standardized dress code.
Under the rules, youngsters can mix and match colors and styles approved by the district. Clothing can be bought at a variety of retail stores. High school students don't have a standardized dress code, but they have new, stricter rules to follow.
Here's a closer look at standardized dress for the prekindergarten through eighth grade:
Boys' shirts
IN: Short- or long-sleeved knit or Oxford-style shirts in navy or white. Shirts must be collared. Turtlenecks, sweaters and sweatshirts are OK and don't have to be collared. Shirts must be tucked in.
OUT: Tank tops, T-shirts, sports jerseys, sleeveless shirts.
Boys' pants
IN: Hemmed or cuffed navy or khaki pants or shorts. Blue jeans without decorations.
OUT: Sagging or oversized pants or shorts. Frayed or torn jeans or wind pants.
Belts and shoes
IN: Athletic shoes, loafers, dress shoes or other closed-toe, open-toe or open-heel shoes. Shoelaces need to be white or match the shoe color. All socks and tights must be solid-colored in brown, black, navy, white or neutral. Belts must be a solid color.
OUT: Slippers and house shoes. Belt buckles larger than 2 inches. Socks with stripes or logos.
Girls' shirts
IN: Short- or long-sleeved knit or Oxford-style shirts or blouses in navy or white. Crew-neck blouses are OK. Turtlenecks, sweaters and sweatshirts are OK. Shirts must be tucked in.
OUT: Tank tops, sleeveless shirts, spaghetti straps, T-shirts, tops that expose the midriff.
Girls' pants
IN: Navy or khaki pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, capri pants or undecorated jeans. Pay attention to the district's "3-inch rule." Skirts or shorts shorter than 3 inches above the knees are unacceptable.
OUT: Frayed or torn jeans, sweatpants or pants with a revealing low rise.
SOURCE: Fort Worth school district.

Yep I would be pissed if AISD did this considering we just dropped a bunch of coin on 'back to school' clothes this weekend.

You think they would give a heads up mid summer or something:hammer:

It is sad kids can't dress themsleves decent anymore. We never needed a dress code we all looked respectable. Notice the things they are prohibiting are rediculous. House slippers, saggy/shredded pants, wife beaters, etc... Stupid ass kids.

When I was a kid my mom wouldn't even let me wear nice looking shorts to school. Much less most of the stuff listed here....punk kids (in keeping with the bashing of the youth). Although I would hate not being able to wear a collarless shirt and have it tucked in, thank goodness I don't have to do that at work, I would kill myself.

My problem with this is that 1) High Schoolers (worst offenders) aren't even covered and 2) as Steve already said, if you've already spend a pile of green on school clothes and are affected by this announcement you're S.O.L.

I believe the original creator was a country and western singer from Hee Haw called stringbean. Can't blame this one on the kids.

We had hip huggers for sure, but we guys were pissed when they banned halter tops.;)

Remember the principal walking most of the Cheerleaders out the front door one day and me as the president of the student council and captain/co-captain of a couple of sports teams having to stand up and speak to the entire school board on how wrong they were.

I didn't win, but had to speak to them again on health/sex education.
Still remember stating my overwhelming brilliant statement, "It's not what you know about SEX, it's what you don't know" my key point and I won.

While everyone knew I was hanging out at Ivy league sister all girls college, Wheaton.

So much social impact in a little town at 17 years old.:D

The valedictorian compared me to Sadat and Begin in her president for student council speech.

This is the same stuff all over again, no big deal.

Off the box

come on show us the picture...:evil

I really think that uniforms are the answer.

Uniforms are everywhere in Japan and China. All the factories I visit have uniforms: typically the line workers wear white, engineers blue or green, QRA pink or red, etc, but you get the idea.
A little Military but you can tell what a person does just by color.
and of course all of the schools have uniforms.
