I will be trying to remove my oil pan in the truck in the next few weeks.
I know you have to lift the engine. Removing the motor mount bolts and loosening the trans bolts, then wrestling out the pan (bending it).

Any other things I should do, look out for?

Is there an oil pan that holds more oil, and easy to get back in with the engine just lifted?

The reason.... I have a low end knock. I want to inspect the rod bearings and replace them if necessary.

Thanks
Charlie

I have read you can pull the pan in the truck. Just have to loosen the oil pick up tube all the way. But if your going to go through all that might as well pull it.. Gunna be a pain to even check/replace anything. Also if you find a bearing thats bad, more than likely the crank will have damage as well.. Alot of 5.4s have piston slap as well....
