Via the news:
Three men were killed and a fourth hospitalized Saturday afternoon when their speeding car struck a light pole and was cut in half, police said.
One of the passengers told police the men had been drinking since 6 a.m., authorities reported. Police said at least one of the victims smelled of alcohol, and investigators found beer bottles in the wreckage on Webb Chapel Road in northwest Dallas.
"It's a nice day and people want to get out, but there's no reason for this," said Dallas Police Senior Cpl. Ed Giampietro. "It's safe to say they were drunk."
Authorities did not release the identities of the men pending notification of their families, but at least two were believed to be from Farmers Branch. Police did not have a name or age for one of the victims who died, but said the others were 19, 20 and 26 years old.
One victim died at RHD Memorial Medical Center and two died at Parkland Memorial Hospital. The injured victim was taken to Parkland.
