There are some backend changes to the way the server is managed coming.

In light of that its time to step back and determine ( specifically regarding the website, gallery and forum ) if there are things that need to be updated, changed, added, removed etc.

Feel free to reply

I still miss the ability to click on the "new posts" in the upper right hand corner even when I'm viewing a message. I"m still not fond of having to go back to the main page every time I want to see the list of new posts.

I remember the reason why you didn't want to do it that way in the past, but if the new changes allow a return of this, I'd really like it back.

There are about a dozen styles to choose from with diff colors

at home page go to bottom right
Pick a diff style

The only style I support is the default one but the others should work mostly

One guess as to why the primary colors are silver ???

Similar but its a hack for a different Forum software - Its been broken since an upgrade over a year ago - the guy that originally wrote it hasnt updated it and other people are attempting to hack it back together to work with new version of Vbulletin

the error above is what I get when I try to add the Timeslip product XML

I'm happier.

I've never been a big fan of the "The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts." portions of message boards. Sometimes, I just don't care to read some of the threads and I feel like I'm being annoyed by the board when I see that.

I still prefer this over the other and thanks for looking into it.

I'm not sure this is an issue, but the board seems to be really slow to respond right now. It was fine a couple of hours ago. It may be on my end of course. I'll let you know, as I'm sure others will, if it continues.

If you get too much grief about the change, feel free to put it back. I'm happy just to have a place to post at all and I really appreciate this board, no matter what the interface.

Thanks!!

And now everything looks fine.

On my end, the only thing I changed was my IP. I'm still using the same computer. The board looks very different from what it looked like an hour and a half ago.

Were you working on it at the time?

NO its normal

The forum went from cookie based tracking to tracking read and unread in the database

Which means that there is bound to be a transistion where the unread status is a little confused

I don't like this new view setup. I get on, and it is showing "new" posts in most forums, even if there are not, but I guess it shows because there are posts not read.

...because yer COLORBLIND??? :hammer:

j/k

I'd like to see the in-post edit screen come back, I liked that feature. Also, a smoother, cleaner gallery/thumbs setup, that would be easier to browse or search.

Im not sure what you mean. I dont recall removig any features recently ..

As far as the Gallery - What specifically is the problem ? If you find one that intergrates with Vbulletin as well as or better than Photopost and has the feature set of photopost that has the looks and features you are looking for and we'll consider it

I am color blind ( as many men are ) but it has more to with the ease of setup and the color of my truck

I could have just left it the VB default Blue ... It is blue right ?

:ron:
PS - I used to have to take eye tests where you look at the color charts to see numbers in colored dots ... I simply memorized the book.
The idea that I was being tested as to color blindness to determine my ability to discern the shades of gray in an Xray always made me smile...

Post edit: when one hits the "Edit" key, up until recently, it would put an edit box in the post itself, without changing the main screen; now, it does it the old way, pulling up a totally new screen to do the edit.

Gallery: TMI. To me, it looks crowded and busy. JMHO, but I prefer galleries that have *just* thumbs, and maybe image names, with little to no additional text except the navigation buttons. This allows larger thumbs per page, and makes scanning/searching easier.

Again, it's just me, I'm wierd that way.

:rll: that's actually funny, that :ron:.

I must be one of the very few, then, because I have killer color discrimination, despite the fact that my eyes individually see colors differently .

One good thing about this forum: it now works well with Firefox. :tu:

Forum has worked with firefox for years

I reenabled all the AJAX features ( quick edit for one )

BUT they were turned off after someone - Likely you
complained that they had some adverse effect ...

So its 6 of one half a dozen of another

Nah, warn't me... the firefox issue was mostly related to how things displayed, but that's been fixed for a while.

I've been using Firefox since 1.0 and I never had any display issues at all. Maybe you had an extension that was screwing it up?

It's possible I changed some things in my CP also. I think I made some changes to not display some features and maybe those were the ones causing it.

I have noticed recently there seem to be more web sites where Firefox doesn't work too good. I seem to be using the "load in IE tab" a bit more than usual.

Me, too--heck, I used the beta--and the problem I had was with the way the smilies loaded and how they were put into the posts--the first is how the browser renders the page and the formatting tabs, the second is a mere annoyance (put in a smiley from the list to the right, and the entire post scrolls back to the top).

I haven't seen the IE issue as much, but then again I rarely will use a page that's IE-only, unless I absolutely HAVE to; the last one was SMU's transcript site, where I was forced to use IE itself to order them--IETab didn't work at all on it.
