View Full Version : Texas STreet Legal Championships--11/17
Denton Dragway
11-11-2002, 11:23 AM
Just 6 days away from the greatest Street Legal Race in Texas. Looks like the weather is going to be outstanding. I know we are still 6 days away, but the man said it was supposed to be 74 degrees and sunny.
Let's find out who's in. Don't forget we are paying $250 to the car club that brings the most entries...and we have about 10 clubs coming out. Show your support and head to Denton Dragway on Sunday. Remember, you either have to race, or be in the Car Show to help your club win.
I just got another barrel of VHT, so I hope you have your good pieces. BTW, who's in?
Hey Mods...maybe one more sticky?
If you want more info on the race, E-mail at Nick@dentondragway.com or visit the website: www.dentondragway.com
Thanks,
Nick

wish to know the same too. Since a stock supercharger is not considered in the stock class. And the L's are too big and heavy to compete in the modded class.

Number One - smilies have no nose.
Number two - a magnification proves I'm right.

Ditto...just plain stupid to put a stock vehicle in a modded class

The Denton Track has improved a LOT ...
The work they are putting in to it PAYS off.. I posted a new PB 60' time 1.75 ... And I ran consistent 8.15s in 60 degree heat at full weight ... I am happy with that ... The days of bad traction at Denton may be over .... The pits are paved the people friendly .. its all good....
Sixpipes and I and Mike Lay were there PLUS a Gen1 NTben351 ???
We all were doing pretty good...
I wish I had pictures of some of the side by side racing Sixpipes and I were doing - GREAT heads up races decided by a hundredth or 2 in one case.... Door handle to bumper the whole way
Pictures later ...

Doug,
I did get some video of our runs, once the racing started. Let me know were to send it. Not the best video non the less.
Remember that I was having a heck of a time with my dial in. Well I made two more passes after the awards were over and ran a:
ET 8.62
MPH 82.18
RT .704
60' 1.995
I just kept getting faster. Guess the day was not all bad.
Mike Lay
P.S. It was nice meeting you guys today. The weather was great. I had a blast!

I had a really good run in the first round, but lost on a double breakout in the second.:(
1st
8.15@79.47 (lifted)
8.15 dial-in
.524 Reaction Time
2nd
8.05@87.85
8.15 dial-in
.680 reaction time http://www.fordvschevy.com/forum/images/smilies/sleep.gif
Lost to a 15-year old kid (driving on a learner's permit :p ) in a trailered in 68 Chevelle running a 7.20 dial. He had a .510 reaction and ran a 7.17. He got to finals, but lost on a red-light.
The Denton Dragway has come a long way. Great track prep for today's event even though it wasn't very well attended. Word will get around. 1/8 mile tracks may not be "in", but the racing is just as good IMO. Had a good time and it was nice to meet Mike and his buddy from The Colony.
Doug and I had three runs all decided by less than a car length. The rubber match was door handle to door handle with both of us running 8.15s. A fun day for $20. It was a great day for test and tune or just tree practice.

Digital? Is there anything else? I have it in AVI and MPEG. Still need to look through the pictures to see what I have.
I did not get any of your side by side runs. Guess I will have to pay the camera man more to get him to start shooting sooner.
Six, I was not going to tell about the youngster!
