I have never seen a stock setup overheat. Maybe if you had 1000hp turbo truck and a 3600rpm stall you may generate enough heat to need the larger cooler.

Just a thought, I dont know how much a SD cooler costs, but I went to Advanced Auto and bought a RV tranny cooler and wired it in line with my stock one. Figured that would keep me ok for a while, what I was thinking is IF I ever needed the extra cooling, I could just plumb another just like it inline also. I think when all was said and done, I had about $30 in mine. Just throwing the idea out there.

Looks like a nice setup, I'd like to see some actual data on it. See if it's worthwhile or just a "I did it" mod

Wes,
I did that mod a few months ago. It dropped my trans temps around 20-25 degrees. I was creeping up over 200 degrees in the summer. With the SD cooler it dropped to 175. Hope that helps.
