That is brave.

I can't get my POS to boost over 12PSI....I am considering a 50-75 wet shot on top of a 4 # pulley.

I think that guy has a built bottom end though....

That seems to be a lot for us, but I don't think that is a lot for the motor. He has a built motor.

I have plans on a 150-200 shot with 16-18psi. when I get my truck running. Probably work on the nitrous in the spring, so I can get Jim to help me with the tuning at FFW Houston '03

On a side note, I believe Jim has a 6# lower and at least a 150 shot. That is what he had at Ennis. He told me he was going to tune the nitrous programs up to a 250 shot.

I dint realise till I looked later that the lower end was built..

Even so 10 lbs of boost and 100 shot is a lot for a street driven truck...

While I agree for my truck :)...I don't think it is really that bad as long as it is used correctly and it's tuned for it. If the guy is spraying at every stop light he pulls up to, it's dangerous.

I don't really think 10 psi and a 100 shot tuned properly is going to hurt the truck that bad.

It looks like the only weak part on the short block of these motors is the rods. I wonder if just putting Manley rods in a stock bottom end will cure all the worries about bottom end breakage under heavy boost. I wonder how much the labor cost would be to swap out the rods on a engine that is sitting for example under my hood. Anyone have any ideas on that one?

Ok Let me put it another way

I am running a very mild tune and a measley 4# of boost.

My truck is a double handfull on the street. Anything over 1/4" of throttle and it is serious business. Not sure how much more HP and TQ the 6lbs of boost and 100 shot amount to, but in my almost 40 year old opinion it is insane...

Earlier JDM's truck was mentioned. The 2001 is not a daily driver. It is trailered... So it is a poor comparison

Speaking of JDM's truck:D I would like to have two of those bling bling'in AF meters on my dash that would look cool. Then I could change my plugs twice a day. How many engines or tear down's does he perform a year on 1/4 miles passes only? Wonder how much boost he runs 15-16 lbs? Another 150hp could make for more wrecked L's no doubt. Over 500hp in anything gets hairy no matter what the experience level. Mandatory Brembo's :D

I am sure that the guy running 18# and 100 shot is not spraying on the street. I don't think anyone in their right mind would spray on the street. The nitrous is most likely for the track. That guy probably has a flip chip for nitrous and non nitrous tunes.
The truck is going to be streetable without spraying. He would just have to take it easy since he is running a lot of boost.:burnout:

I resemble that remark

They say
"Invest .25 in brakes for every 1.00 in go fast mods"

If that holds true in Terry's case he has about 12K to 14k in mods:eek2: :eek2:

as most of you know i run nitrous.
i use it as more of a cooling agent . with a 50 shot and a 5# lower pulley it gets me extra 33HP on the dyno but it pushes the torque up 74 LBs . i had my chip reburned with 3 degree retard .
i also run a little bigger fuel jet to make sure it doesn't lean out.
i don't have any denotation . the retarding does hurt me alittle on just motor . when i get the money i will get a flip chip.

when i dynoed it i got
393rwhp
510rwtq
i think it is the torque that helps get these heavy trucks moving.
my best 1/8 this summer was 8.101 havent run it in the cool weather yet.

just my .02

I had a friend pick up over 200 ft/pds with a 125-shot of nitrous on his otherwise stock 99 Z28.

There's an old adage about how people buy horsepower, but drive torque. :)

I agree with this. I seriously doubt a STOCK L running a 75-100hp shot of nitrous could effectively hook up the power on stock tires on the street...maybe once the truck shifts into 2nd gear. Otherwise, it is only going to be effective with some sort of drag-oriented tire (drag radials excluded...I think they are good tires, but would not handle the abrupt shock of increased torque the nitrous gives upon activation).

So what you have is a fast truck that sprays at the track under a very controlled environment where a different tune, and I'm sure different fuel, is used.

The ones running 18+psi and 200+hp shot of nitrous...there is nothing different there than many pro-mod type cars are running...and they are purpose built motors, too. :)

Here is what Sal said about his truck.
